Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 See, that's the problem, a bit of corporate confusion. While I think that's the board right there, they tended to list directors and officers together in the yearbooks, but seperately in the media guides. There might be eight officers, six of whom are board members, or six board members, five of whom are officers. They're listed there with their offices, and are only noted as "director" if they aren't officers. But what of the ones who are officers but not directors (like Casey and Weis would seemingly become)? It's hard to tell. Carlisle, for instance, may be a director and may not. The media guides listed directors and board members in two seperate columns.
Guest iramets Guests Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 You mean George Weiss, of course, not Al Weis.I hope you do.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Re: The post-'86 purge -- Remember that the team was technically sold that year, with Fred and Nelson buying out Doubleday & Co., which owned most of the club. There was bound to be a change in the Board following such a move. Some of the pre-'87 members were probably D&C execs.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Ggod point. I'm pretty sure that's what we're dealing with.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Nice work!I may just steal some of this for the UMDB. I have some information about executives but it's kind of spotty.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Well, I'd kill you for stealing my work, but then who would maintain the UMDB?I'm working on (1) completing this table with the early years, and (2) making a seperate table for the corporate officers, and maybe continguing with every bureaucratic level.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 You mean you want to track all of those rows and columns of faces from the back of the yearbook? Wow.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Yeah.I think a database isn't complete until we have the names and biographical abstract on every fan at every game. And then every exhibition game.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Exhibition games don't count. But I'm with you on the rest.Lou Niss, Traveling SecretaryTommy McKenna, Trainer
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I posted one of these tables (complete this time) for Mets trainers through history. Anybody know where I can find that?

Column A has a Met (or a near-Met). Column B has agents. Corrrectly match the Met in Column A with the agent in Column B. Note that Column B is shorter, as there are a few agents with more than one Met on their roster. Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Pelfrey was a Boras client when he signed after the draft. I believe the other Boras clients are Beltran (already mentioned), Scott Schoeneweis and David Newhan.
