nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 best misleading title yet. beats the "wright traded" one only because i knew before i opened it that it wouldn't be David.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Nothing will ever top "Juan Signs."
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 'Juan Signs' was indeed the best.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 So, what's the story behind "Juan Signs", anyway?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 In '01 the animals were posting new thread after new thread with speculation the Mets ought to sign free agent Juan Gonzalez.A poster started a thread with the title JUAN SIGNS!! and the text read:I'm selling signs with the word "Juan" on them. $10 each. Send me a check, etc etc.It wasn't the cleverest thing ever, but it was easy fishing.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Several years ago Juan Gonzalez (ca. 2000?) was on the free agent market and the topic of much heated speculation in regards to where he's sign with many Mets fans hoping, some even expecting he'd end up in Queens. Someone - was it Johnny Dickshot in an earlier incarnation? - posted on the old Mets Online Forum (the MOFo) a thread that began "Juan Signs!" It was a big fake out because the text in the thread was an offer to purchase some signs the poster had made in support of Juan.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I still haven't gotten my sign.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I spent the money on beer.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 That's pretty funny, even funnier was the contrat Juan turned down from the Tigers....$140 million IIRC...
