(Sub-rule: anyone who ends up making every other post in such a thread is not a nice person.)

hit the double that caused the Rose/Fosse collision at homeplate that ended Fosse's career in the 1970 All Star game.

Dave Kingman?

Didn't quite end Fosse's career, but good one.

Kingman was on a houseboat and nobody could reach him to tell him the 1981 strike was over.

Left for dead by the Cubs but like many releivers, needed only a change of venue.

Indians claimed him off waivers from the Mets, and then the Mets claimed him later that same season

Clever phrasings aside, let's try to keep the facts as fact-like as possible.

Lee Walls?

Do you just wake up and say, "I'm going to aggressively undermine things today"?

Lee Fuckin Walls Fact: He never got to play with the Mets.

Brian Boehringer?

Posted

The fact I was looking for about Lee Walls - he was the first ever player traded from the Mets.

]December 15, 1961: Traded by the New York Mets with $100,000 to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later and Charlie Neal. The Los Angeles Dodgers sent Willard Hunter (May 25, 1962) to the New York Mets to complete the trade.

Something I thought old-time Mets fans would have known and others found interesting. Wasn't trying to undermine anything.
