One fact and go

Then I must be thinking of someone else.
Thanks,

But looking at the 1969 exansion Expos roster, I can't figure out who it might have been.
Don Hahn?
One of the pitchers?
I dunno.
Is there a UMDB box for the game?
Now I'm going nuts.

Of course there is! There are boxes for every regular- and post-season game since 1962!

Hahn went 0-3. Rusty Staub is the only Met that homered for Montreal.

I just went there and couldn't find them.
I must need new glasses.

EDIT: I looked again and still couldn't find the link to the boxes.
But under game memories, I saw a note that Dyer hit a three run homer for the Mets in that first game against the Expos.
That must be what I remembered, and is still a fact about Duffy.

Can we resume the thread, or did I essentially kill it?
Is it still on life support?
After your admonition about posting answers too frequently, I tried to only post a new factoid/response every new page or every new day.
But then this stuff happened.
Sorry Edgy.
Pease forgive me.

There's a Box Score icon () next to every game result.

Probably the only Mets catcher to also play games at 2nd base.

Junior reportedly disliked photo day, because it was the only day of the year he had to wear a baseball cap. He felt he looked silly in a cap and preferred his catcher's helmet.

Marv Throneberry?

The story goes that it was Marv's birthday and they had a cake for him in the clubhouse after the game. By the time Marv got to the clubhouse there was no cake left.

Marv complained to Casey who said: "We wuz gonna give you a piece Marv, but we were afraid you'd drop it."

Led Mets in wins with 10 in 1980. And it felt good to have a 10-game winner on the team!

Variously known as "Hondo," the "Capital Punisher," and the "Gentle Giant," Howard played baseball and basketball at Ohio State University before entering professional baseball in 1956. He had brief stints with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1958 and 1959 before joining the team full-time in 1960, when he was named the NL's rookie of the year. He had a .268 average with 23 home runs and 77 RBI in 117 games that season.

The 6-foot-7, 255-pound Howard was traded to the Washington Senators before the 1965 season. He led the AL in home runs twice, with 44 in both 1968 and 1970, and he was also the league leader in slugging percentage at .552 in 1968 and in RBI with 126 in 1970.

Howard went with the team when it moved to Texas and became known as the Rangers in 1972, but was traded to the Detroit Tigers near the end of that season. He finished his playing career with Detroit in 1973.

In 1981, Howard managed the San Diego Padres to a 41-69 record. He took over the New York Mets during the 1983 season and had a 52-64 record with them. Howard has also served as a coach with several major league teams

It needs to be killed and re-born as Met Fact & Opinion Vol. III

True. And Estrada's single win as a Met was in relief in the first start of a young starter named Sivver or Sever or Siver. Something like that.

Wonder what became of him?
