metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 The deadline for bids is today at 5PM,I'm going to guess that the winning bid will be $28M.....
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I wonder when we find out who won the rights. I read somewhere that we might find out today, but other things I've read indicate that it might be as many as four days until we learn which team bid highest.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 Yeah the Lions have four days to accept or reject, kinda cool if we found out tonight that the Mets had won the bid.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Where's Bob Barker when you need him?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I saw a lot of clowns bid 1 on that show when they weren't the last guy to bid.

Guest patona314 Guests Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 based from the rumors I've read, it seems that Matsuzaka is dictating where he wants to go... and that's NY. Rumors also state that he likes being the "STAR" of the team ( been that way since he was 15). Considering that Godzilla is on the other side of town, The Mets seem like his logical goal (based off rumors of course). Which is great for us... unless... well, you guys can fill in the rest.

If you're stupid, you're stupid.

Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Give Diasuke a MFY Uniform now...We're wasting our time thinking he will be a MetOur history with Japanese pitchers of any price is underwhelming....
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I'm not thinking one way or another.I don't care about our five-deep history with Japanese pitchers.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 And his preference, if he has one, doesn't factor into this at all. The only option he has if his rights go to a team he doesn't want to play for would be to refuse to sign and stay with the Lions for one more season.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Early unconfirmed report is that the Red Sox are the high bidder with somewhere between $28 and $45 million.Yowzer, that's some serious sashimi.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 38-45 million, per Buster Olney, citing MLB sources.Wow.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 That's a payroll for a small market club.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 A tactic to keep him from the Bronx for a year? Post a ridiculously high bid, then don't even try to sign him...you lose nothing in that scenario, right?
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 But who is to say that if the highest bidding team doesn't sign him they can't move down the ladder to next highest? Is there a rule somewhere that says they can"t do that?
