First ten voted for the Mets.

Either we're voting with our hearts (I confess that I certainly was) or we're honestly but unanimously not seeing the edge for the Cards, despite them having the best hitter on earth.

Well yeah I am going with my heart but with Carpenter probably not slated till game 3 that should give the Mets an edge.

the forecast of rain for Wednesday and Thursday does bring up the possibility that Carpenter could pitch at Shea. Either way, he's not Mike Scott 1986 or Orel Hershiser 1988...Mets in 5.

I'm giving the Cardinals games 3 and 4, and the Mets games 1, 2, 5, and 6.

Since this is a prediction thread, we can include weather predictions.

="National Weather Service"]Wednesday: A chance of rain or drizzle after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. East wind between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 4pm, then a chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Southeast wind 8 to 13 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

I would like to see Mets in 5 for a couple reasons:

1) Game Six is a day game and I don't want to have to listen to a possible clincher at work between fielding phone calls.

2) The ALCS should be a more competitive series...meaning that it may go 6 or 7 games. Any advantage we have in setting our rotation with a couple days off while the AL boys throw everything but the kitchen sink in 7 games works to our advantage.

I was tempted to go with the Mets in 6 games, but then I thought of a rotation that includes Trachsel, Maine, and Perez and opted for the Mets in 7.

Our starting rotation scares the hell out of me. I have very little faith in Trachsel and Perez at this point.

Edited for multiple typos.

What does that mean? There's a chance of showers after 3am or showers in the evening and then a thunderstorm after 3am?

I read that as possible rain in the early evening, and a greater possiblity of heavier rain in the wee hours.

It's still more than 24 hours away, so things could change, but if that forecast is accurate they'd probably get the game in, although it could be miserable for those at Shea.

Mets 17, Cardinals 0.

Our collective gonfalon bubble is enormous.

Latest update. Chance of precipitation increases from 60% to 80%. Thunderstorms now after midnight instead of after 3 a.m.

"Showers" has been changed to "rain."

Is a quarter of an inch of rain a lot? I can't really relate.

It's not so much the total precipitation but the frequency thereof that'll determine a rainout.

A quarter inch would mean either drizzle for a while or a short heavier burst -- either way allowing the game to happen.

Bumping this for a fresh look.

Eleven of 21 respondents are already wrong.

As long as all 21 respondents don't end up wrong, I'll be happy.
