Mets lose opener to Mike Scott and the Astros 1-0

Glenn Davis scores the only run of the game with a homer off Doc Gooden. Mike Scott hurls a Complete Game, allowing 5 hits and 1 walk.

2006 97-65 1st NL East, Currently performing in the NLCS at the time of this post!

Whew! Its a good thing I scrapped my original plan and just stuck to using team photos for the World Championship years!

Mike Scott was incredible that year. There is no way the Mets would have advanced if they would have had to face him again in that series

Jose Cruz made a big catch on the warning track of a drive by Backman...probably the best ball the Mets hit that night. If it landed it would have been a double and possibly a triple.

I never bought the "no way" stuff.

Even if the Mets' bats never caught up to him, their pitching could have matched him and the team could've just outlasted him.

Nope. He had them brainwashed.

That's interesting, with no NLDS, how is that the NLCS started this late into October? They must've played a lot more regular season games in October then.

Yup. Plus the start of the season is pushed back as well. Some years the season has started on March 31st! And the Sunday Night first game has now been held on the same day teams are playing their final ST games!
