soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Goatee - getting very bushy.Question: Do we keep these beards as long as they are winning games or as long as thwey are winning series'?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 I'm not shaving until the Mets go home in glory.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 I did sound like the Apostle there, didn't I?No, just temporal glory of a World Championship, amen.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 At 7 o'clock my husband and I got in the car, turned on the heater, and drove to Dairy Queen (I got a pumpkin pie Blizzard, him a mocha moolatta) We'll see if they're lucky!Walked in the house a few minutes ago to see the final out, har!
Guest KC Guests Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Down 5-4, I finally broke out the secret weapon. Put on the Oscar Madisonhat ... I think a few of you have seen it. It's not pretty, it smells if you have theguts to sniff it ... ground out to the pitcher, inning over.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 If they win the World Series you guys have to keep your beards until the Mets get eliminated in 2007.And if that doesn't happen, on to 2008.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 My boss is handing out Dilly Bars! Maybe DQ will be lucky again
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I'm gonna start to lok like Victor Buono pretty soon...
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I have an old crimping iron you can borrow
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 I noticed tonight that Oliver Perez pitched better when I took off my glasses.I'll keep that in mind for his next start.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Meanwhile, I'm back to my original outfit of orange hoodie, blue scrubs. And if they win I'm wearing it again tomorrow
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Keeping the facial hair but going with a different cap for tonight's game.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 My green "Kiss Me, I'm a Mets Fan" shirt, along with wristbands and blue and orange intertwined scrunchies. I'll bring out the big good luck talismans closer to game time.
Guest KC Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Oscar Madison hat saved me last series, it's gonna save me again.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Lucky TV in the master bedroom.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I'll prolly get some looks for wearing a neon orange hoodie two days in a row, but that's their problem.Wait'll next week.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I switched hats last night. My black/blue brim number didn't do the trick last Friday so I went with the classic blue, orange 'NY'.I'm riding the hot hand from here on in.(Goatee almost long enough to start acting as a flavor saver)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Me yesterday:8 p.m. "None of this lucky shit works. I'm just going to watch the game."11:30 p.m. "It must be because I didn't use any of my lucky stuff. Maybe it's actually unlucky stuff. Or maybe they win when I'm not being superstitious. Ok, for Game 7, I have to make sure to not be superstitious."
Guest 86-Dreamer Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 for me it has been the "Mamas special" sandwich available from the Mamas of Corona stands at Shea. I can't go to game tonight, but friend has promised to go to Corona and pick one up for me. Whether it is lucky or not, it is the most 'Amazin sandwich I have ever had.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I changed the mojo by entering through Gate E last night instead of Gate D. It had been Gate D for the entire playoffs before, but it'll be Gate E again tonight. My lucky hat is starting to get pretty bad. It was retired from regular season use a while ago, but it's still carrying a 5-1 postseason record with it so it'll always be around for the playoffs.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Mama's at Shea are indeed quite good, but you'll get a slightly bigger sandwich for less money if you go to the actual store in Corona.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Is there more than one Mama's at Shea?I'm aware of the one at Field Level. They have a little entrance corridor so you can get to it even if you don't have Field Level tickets. It was a tasty sandwich. It's nice that ballparks have more selections than they used to.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I'm wearing the same undershirt & jeans I wore yesterday, and I kept the change in my pocket from yeterday IN my pocket. ]Me yesterday: 8 p.m. "None of this lucky shit works. Ok, for Game 7, I have to make sure to not be superstitious."CF, I decided I wouldn't knock on wood whenever I thought/heard something vaguely positive about a Met our our chances, which has become second nature to me in the playoffs. Needless to say, I'm not knocking on wood today either.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I won't be wearing the hat I wore to the game last Friday. For those of you who saw me and were wondering what it was, it is a Columbia Bombers (their old SAL farm team) cap. I spent a lot of time there on business and got it.Later
