On the pregame show, Willie spoke of "rewarding" his regulars.

I wonder about keeping Reyes out to preserve that .300 average. I suspect that could be a consideration.

They're giving Frank Robinson a lovely and appropriate send-off.

Cliff Floyd --- gimpiest of leadoff batters.

There is no doubt a metric that supports Cliff Floyd as an ideal leadoff hitter, particularly over that undisciplined Jose Reyes.

It always makes me grin to see Oliver Perez leap over the foul line that way

0-0 after one inning.

The old man drives in young Mr. Wright. 1-0 Mets in the second.

Porn Stash follows that up with a single that drives in Mr. Green. 2-0.

Anderson Hernandez's first major league triple brings in Franco and Valentin. 4-0 Mets.

Oliver Perez's ground out is the first out in the second inning.

Ryan Church's misplay gives Floyd a RBI double (otherwise it would have been a sac fly) that drives in Hernandez. 5-0 Mets, but Cliff is really hobbling.

Cliff hobbles home on LoDuca's single. 6-0.

Ramon Martinez is out of the game - Billy Traber comes in.

The hit parade continues against Traber - Wright gets his second single of the inning.

Mr. Green's bloop single loads the bases.

Franco strikes out to end the inning. 6-0 Mets going to the bottom of the second.

Meanwhile, Oliver Perez has notched his second consecutive 1-2-3 inning.

For a second there I thought that really was Pedro's brother you were talking about and I was "HE'S still around?"

Perez struggles in the 3rd, but ultimately gets out of the inning unscathed. Still 6-0 Mets.

Cliff and Beltran just miss colliding over an outfield ball. Beltran makes the catch. Floyd looks really hobbled out there. If we make it to the World Series, Cliff has to DH.

They follow that up by letting a ball fall between them with two out.

Gary was saying something about Wright having done something that only Mel Ott and Joe DiMaggio had done previously.

I think it was consecutive seasons of .300 and 100 RBIs before age 24.

Anyone catch that?

Ryan Church's ball falls in front of Cliff to put Washington on the board. 6-1 in the 4th.

I hate my memory but I thought it was 25 homers and 100 + RBI before age 24/25 in consecutive seasons.

Perez extricates himself from another bases loaded jam, and it's 6-1 after four innings.

With the help of a nice play from Beltran that doubled up a runner, Bert Hernandez pitches a scoreless 5th inning.

Feliciano pitches a 1-2-3 6th inning.

I'd rather hold El Duque back for a week from Monday at Shea rather than bring him back in Game 4 though

Fine, but that still wouldn't get Perez a start. John Maine would start game 4 in that scenario.
