Lastings: Hey, Dave! Who's the old guy?

This is a very cute picture and caption

Dave looks about 13 years old.

Yeah, it looks very much like one of those staged "first meetings" pictures

Piazza harmlessly flies to center, and ... a pitching change for out 3. If you're gonna go with Feliciano here, maybe you just as well go to Waggy.

I was thinking the same thing. Especially with a 1 run lead, and Bradford had been throwing but didn't come in, we might've been in bad shape in extras had Billy had a problem. Heilman was throwing in the 9th for a little.

Ex Mets returning report:

Piazza came out to warm up in the OF, the crowd noticed and started the "Mike Pi-azza, clap clap, clapclapclap" which got a tip of the cap.

The video tribute, set to In My Life, was timed very nicely as it started as Piazza was walking back towards the dugout. He waved, turned around and watched it, and waved some more. Another standing O and tips of the cap, kisses being blown as he got to the dugout.

Two doffs of the cap as he stepped out for the first AB. Trachsel and LoDuca did a very nice job of looking busy to give Mike time.

Mike Cameron also got a very nice standing reception and I think he did a slight tip of the cap too.

What a great night. A lot of positive emotion from the fans, and a nail biter that turned out right.

My favorite moment of the game was with Piazza at bat, and the crowd was chanting "Mike Pi-a-zza", until LoDuca threw out the runner at second, at which point the chant became "Paul Lo-Du-ca!" It was a ceremonial passing of the torch by the Mets fans without any dis towards our former hero.

It was a pretty great way for MK to spend his 10th birthday :)

I'm still surprised at how shaggy Mike looks.

]Piazza said he didnt want it to end, and compared being here to hanging out with 46,167 brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles.

What's nice about yesterday's game is that since Willie wasn't managing, Mike got his last at-bat.

]Tom Glavine recalled how Turner Field had treated Andres Galarraga when he returned to Atlanta as a member of the Giants in 2001. "How the fans stood and cheered," he said. "And when I went back in ... oh, that's right, they didn't treat me like that."

When Lastings was at bat with the bases loaded and bounced into a run-scoring double play was I right in thinking that the fans booed him, for the members that were at the game was it loud booing?

No, it wasn't Matsui-esque, but then again a run still came home on that play.

The booing is kinda pointless, and he still has his fans, like those seen in the upper deck on Sunday night, but I think people are perhaps a bit tired of a .219 average with a .330 attitude.
