nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 ]The contract provides for a $1.5 million signing bonus, salaries of $1 million next year, $5 million in 2008, $7.5 million in 2009, $10 million in 2010, $14 million in 2011 and $15 million in 2012.the first four years of this deal are pretty much exactly what i advocated inb the other thread, but now there are 2 more years at a fair rate added on that would have been free agency, this is a great deal.

I think I have. Haven't I?Well, I hate that.Yup. Heard great radio rants about it "Oh, thank you for letting me know who #2 on the Yankees is, I'd never know that its Jeter"Actually, whats worse is someone taking a real authentic jersey with a number, and putting their name or something on it.Geez wiz! I mean really, its quite disrespectfull when you think about it. Like if you see someone in a 41 vintage Met jersey you think "Yeah, Tom Seaver" and you see on that back it says "Grabowski" or something. Its more alarming for a Yankee jersey because they have No Name...Of Course (sorry, had to say it that way) Perfect example, I saw someone with a 7 Yankee jersey, but he had his name on the back! I went up to him and said "If you put ANY name on that jersey, it should only be MANTLE!" The guy looked at me and said that it was his name, and he wears 7 in softball games. I didn't want to respond. But those Yankee-pinstriped faux-jerseys with the Names on back are disgusting, then again, thats probably why it seems that the majority people I see with them on are causual fans, or fans there just to be "seen" and think "Boy I'm wearing player X's jersey, I'm a real fan!" No, you just spent 20-30 bucks on a glorified batting practice shirt! (you know, the Tee-shirts, though I've heard them (both Mets and Yankees) being called "Jerseys" for some reason)

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 A Cranepooler was telling me just this morning how Sports Authority was selling MFYs caps that were Blue and Orange.Granted, our colors are better than theirs. But they should just have the class to live with what they're stuck with.

Thats another rant of mine!Lets just say I believe that if it isn't something worn in an official game or an official locker room celebration then it should not be worn by a true FAN!Reason for crap like that though, is strictly A) Gang colors and for the female persuasion (no offense Coob and SK) to wear a shirt or hat that "fits" their particular look of the day.In other words MFY the strict Navy Blue cap with the Interlocking WHITE NY with the MLB logo on that back. And if you want to honor America, there are those available with the flag stiched in on THE SIDE!Ditto with the Mets: Either strict blue with the orange NY, later with the orange button on top. That one-and-done white top cap with a blue brim, the all black cap and the black with blue brim! THATS IT! Various Spring Training caps and special ASG, WS and American Flag versions aside, those 5 caps are the ONLY caps ever worn by the New York Met franchise for over 44 years now and the ONLY caps fans SHOULD WEAR!Or at least I would wear anyway =

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 the yankees seem to have jerseys and hats in every color and its annoying...especially the blue ones (Mets0 and the red ones (Red Sox), how could a "fan' ever wear those?

Again, this crap is for gang colors and women. Two demos that probably would have a hard time naming Nick Green and Aaron Guile let alone second tier players like Melky Cabrera and Kyle Farnsworth!Essentially the Yellow Yankee hats are there for Latin Kings to represent the Yankees. Pure example of what I mean, saw someone in a Pirate hat once, I said "Hey Pirates look good this year" (this was a few years back, when Benson and crew looked like they were going to turn a corner) the guy gave a standard "Yeah huh..." Probably wouldn't know who Kris Benson was if he and Anna were doing it right in front of him! So why buy something with a P or a Pirates secondary logo on it when you can buy the interlocking NYs

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 A 4th one should be added in a combo of 40 Met wins and 2nd place team losses!
