metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I noticed that Yancy, my thought was that Carlos was wondering why Heilman was not throwing the ball...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Christ that kids mohawk is terrible looking.
Guest KC Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Mets lose. For the record, I think Heilman can still be a big part of the bull-pen if he'd pull his ass out of his head and think team. This team can af-ford a head case or two, just like any family, org, or forum for that matter.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I think and hope that Heilman just jogged his way into a trade.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Nice day for a ball game for the first few innings.Pelfrey looked great, Delgado hits a bomb, hip hip hooray. Then Pelfrey lost the strike zone. My seat got less comfortable. The food started to taste bad. The humidity rose. Blech. The only thing that kept the crowd awake was Heilman, who sent half of them home and gave the rest an excuse to exercise their vocal chords.

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 This was a frustrating game to attend. The polar opposite of yesterday - today we had the lead and just gave it back. Blech. But MK was on the field before the game for the National Anthem, and we snuck out of the picnic area to see Greg in the late innings, so there were some good memories of the day, despite the suckitude on the field. That homer by Delgado was a thing of beauty!

He has been bugging me all year - I just want to get rid of him...
Guest KC Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 He may very well be traded, and I'm not opposed to cutting bait at this pointI guess, but what the heck could he fetch? I think a lot of his problem is - andI'm breaking no new ground here - between his ears.(edited for clarity)
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I just saw the Heilman lollyjog.damn---thats embarrassing.Thats inexcusable---Im not calling for his head or anything, but I sure would like to get his ear.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I was just yelling at him, "Bad Aaron, Bad!" like I was disciplining a puppy or something. It was unbelievable watching that play!

Well there were also two kids trying to sneak a closer look for a minute I guess.I guess Loge is closest you can get sans a field ticket but it does get interesting. One couple (man and woman) sat down during Pelfrey's meltdown and I was on the verge of saying that I was putting the inning squarely on their heads! But I remembered the last time I did that to a complete stranger (socialite told someone in my party to shut me up) so I decided to keep my mouth shut (maybe I'll put that in the things I didn't say thread in NBF)Next time in Aug for the 1986 reunion and then some October Baseball
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 We started out in the picnic area, but at that point we had moved to the upper deck, first base side.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Not only an ugly game but about 3-1/2 hours worth of ugly.Games like that are tough to watch even if you're winning. The Heilman play is an example of where I think it's not only appropriate to boo your own man - but virtually mandatory! On the other hand if you went dumping a player every time he made a dumb play you'd have no one left after a short time.
