Valentin can only muster a triple that time.

<------ I just became Claudell Washington ... I feel my shoulders broadening as I type

Valentin's having a nice week this afternoon.
Not bad for a guy many Met fans wanted strung up and shot by the 2nd week of the season.

what an excellent at bat that was!
That was on the 9th pitch of the at-bat according to CBS sportsline.
Thats workin Nabisco till he cracks like a cheap chip.

(Nolasco's gonna kill my fantasy baseball day, but I will feel no pain)

When I was 12, i came up in a game 4 times with the baseloaded.
K, BB, HR, Double. I drove in 7 in our 9-8 win and got yelled at after the game for overunning second (I was heading for third on the double but Micheal Sacks was stanging there - he should have scored!). I got back (Thanks to Micheal's break towards home that drew a throw), but still got the 'you got to keep your head in the game' talk. But anyway, I think Valentin's HR and triple are a bit more of a big deal since it's in the Majors.

Nolascos
ERA for the day- 48.60
Whip- 5.40.

The info just happens to be handy.

Uggla reached on a double.

You need more runs Pelfrey?
Cuz the boys will get em for ya if ya do.
I would think Valentin alone probly has another 7RBIs in him.

Settle in rook.
This game is your game.

I dunno Hillbilly-its all relative.

Still not hitting him much (that 2B was just a well-placed bouncer) but his pitch-count is going to make this a 5-and-out deal for the rook's debut no matter what the run cushion is.
They're not getting around much on his fastballs (lotsa fouls the other way) but too many walks (not surprising) and deep counts will prevent him from taking this much beyond 5 IPs

Another not so smooth inning from Pelfrey. A wild pitch in there. Three walks...
Up to 70 pitches in 2.2 innings.
Willies gonna let him try and pitch out of this.
It would be nice if the rook was in long enough to get a win out of this.

Whew----induces the pop up and gets out of it.

....who here thinks I should have gone with "cookie" instead of "cheap chip" ?

Pelfrey gets through the 4th. Up to about 95 pitches. 9-3 Mets

That inning was nice.
Hope that buys the rook 6 innings.
89 pitches thru 4.

edit:
CBS says 89--they are not always right tho. As a matter of fact its amazing how many times they are wrong.
What do ya want 4 free?

Cliff hits the scoreboard. 11-3 Mets. He seems to be hitting the ball well now.

not a great outing from Pelfrey, but i'll take it.
i think pedro martinez might have gone 2 months without getting this many runs scored for him combined...

That bum Valentin struck out ;)

Its 16-3.

Bet Pedro wishes heda got run support like this (even split up among 3 or 4 games)early on this season.

Heh, thats the way you shut your manager up after he decided that you'd be a human pinata the inning before!

I was really hopin to see Owens pitch today too, as well as Pelfrey.
Damn broadcast bullshit these days.

Heilman on to close it.

We needed a laffer like this after Willis's granny yesterday and todays first game.

A very welcomed All Star about to come up.
And boy can we use a break, or what?
