Yesterday I saw the centerfielder for the Connecticut Defenders - a kid named Timpner - make two outstanding plays. I was at their game against the New Britain (AA) Rock Cats. If anyone would like, I'll post a game report ala our occasional poster Scrapple8.

Unfortunately, still shots can't do justice to that Mathews catch.
That shot is merely the spinning aftermath of a whole-arm-and-chest over-the-wall, back-to-the-plate backhander at a full gallop.

Cancel all further play-of-the-year entries, we already have our winner.

I like hearing the Yankee booth description --- when he gets Andy Phillips by a step and half, throwin fromb his knees and falling away --- saying "A little like Derk Jeter...."
