Not thinking, too much consternation over Kazmir over the years I guess

Stan Musial was the only non-Red on the starting team. The commissioner of baseball replaced Wally Post and Gus Bell with Willie Mays and Hank Aaron.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Pedro is resting up back in the Dominican Republic .]Pedro Martinez is the only one of the six who is not attending the game, and he left the team for his home in the Dominican Republic after being placed on the disabled list Friday. General manager Omar Minaya expected Martinez to work out there during the All-Star break and rejoin the team for Thursday's workout in Chicago.http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spmnotes104812712jul10,0,3582746.story?coll=ny-baseball-headlines

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 And why shouldn't the Yankee fans boo the cleanup hitter on the All-Star team? None of the merits that put him in that spot were achieved in BIG spots.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 ]Glavine, voted onto the staff by players, was replaced because his Sunday start rendered him unavailable for the Tuesday night game. (Martinez, also chosen by players, recently went on the disabled list with a sore hip.) Just saw this snippet in an article. Are players voting for reserves now, and not just the All-Star team manager? I can't remember.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 The reserves are chosen by a combination of player votes and manager/league picks.
