TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Milledge introduces Freel to his right arm with an outfield assist at 2nd to open up the game.Great play.No score moving to bottom of one.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 LoDuca answers Dickshot with an RBI double.1-0 Mets!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Delgado goes KABOOM and the Mets up 3-0 in the first.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 A ho-hum in game thread for a preview of what the NLDS would look like if the season ended today.3-1 good guys, bottom of 5.Trachsel looking decent.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Trachsel goes KABOOM!4-1 good guys.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 KABOOM!last met pitcher to homer? Shawn Estes off of the rocket.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Trachsel's homer was a line drive off the billboard out in left between the loge and field sections.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 2 singles and a walk load the bases for little brother Valentin and the Reds with no outs.In comes Duaner.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Well done, Duaner. Well done indeed. The DP to end the sixth was an easy one.Close the book on Trachsel with 6 IP, 2 ER. The problem is that I'm happy with that. And I should not be happy with a starter going 6.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Duaner gets the job done with men on base. I love it.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Updates from a slow computer.Mets pound David Weathers in the 7th for cusion.Nady hit a 2-run KABOOM-er/X marks the spot Milledge singled, Duaner got donked, and LoDuca sent them both home with a double.8-2, Metropolitans of New York lead after 7 innings.Heilman in to test those mechanics.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Wow. Nady with a second home run after Valentin hit a triple (he tried for an inside-the-parker but got thrown out at home).
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Nady goes once, Nady goes again.Second of the game as Nady flexes that appendix. Or something.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 the Mets lead the NL in runs scored (pending the outcome of tonight;s dodgers game)
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I was out tonight - it looks like I missed a good one.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 This did look like a good one.Watchin the hi-lites now on ESPN--Trax went yard-lol-awsum.WOW-the ESPN guy called it a KaBOOM!That throw by Lastings-Beautiful.Delgado goes down to get that off speed and puts it in orbit.Nady hits two into the night.LoDuke with three ribs.Nice line by Trachsel.Phils lose even tho Howard was a one man wrecking crew.Good night.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Was finally at Shea for the first time this year!Milledge seemed to have a tough time judging flyballs -- the sliding catch, the Freel broken bat, etc. Sure didn't look like he was getting a good read on anything.Trachsel's homer was smoked. Seemed like it was still rising when it entered the seats. 3-2, he looked for the fastball and swung as hard as he could. Crowd tried to give the curtain call but Reyes got up there real fast and swung at the first pitch (flying out to center),
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 It's nice to have a game that's a laugher at the end, but this one was a lot tighter then it looked. Please reward Sanchez with Schaefer.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 ]After Kris Benson had hit his home run against the Mets on Saturday, Trachsel was told of Dwight Gooden's over-reaction to the second of his eight career home runs. Gooden had held the Cubs hitless for seven innings on June 5, 1988 when he made the mistake of taking Bill Landrum into the bleachers at Shea. His victory lap lasted more than 360 feet.I didn't know this story. I knew Gooden got to the eighth with the no-no, but didn't know about the home run.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 I'm not quite sure what's being implied there. Did he overplay his celebration? Did he lose his focus on the mound?Any Waybackers able to find the June 6 game story?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Oops. Here's the rest: ]After Kris Benson had hit his home run against the Mets on Saturday, Trachsel was told of Dwight Gooden's over-reaction to the second of his eight career home runs. Gooden had held the Cubs hitless for seven innings on June 5, 1988 when he made the mistake of taking Bill Landrum into the bleachers at Shea. His victory lap lasted more than 360 feet"I was flying when I got back to the bench," he said. "A home run and a no-hitter."The no-hitter disappeared quickly in the eighth. He allowed three hits and two runs and acknowledged he was surprised he hadn't allowed more. "I had no chance of getting one out," he said.Column
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 In contrast to the always-under-control Steve Trachsel who claims he was telling himself to calm down and not to take that feeling to the mound with him by the time he was rounding 2nd base on his trot.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
