...which is the season-high for games over .500.

Of no less importance is that it's consecutive wins for the first time in more than a week -- since May 28/29, #3 @ Fish and #1 vs. D'Backs.

Other meaningless streak numbers:
--12 of our last 20, first time since St. Louis road series
--13 of our last 22, first time since NYY
--24 of our last 40, first time since Philly homestand

What a great game--and one we really needed. There have been far too few blowouts for this team . . .

If El Duque can pitch have that well over the rest of the season, I'll be a happy fucking camper.

]Said Willie Randolph: "The first couple of games was very uncharacteristic of what he is. He's a command guy, a control pitcher, a master of changing speeds and hitting his spots. That, to me, was vintage El Duque. Hopefully he can continue that."

I hope Hernandez pitches like he did yesterday for the rest of the year. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Willie's got it backwards. The first couple of games were characteristic of what El Duque is today. Yesterday was very uncharacteristic of what he is.

Maybe in two months it'll be the other way around, but right now Willie said it wrong.

Fun game. I watched it on TiVo delay this morning.

Beltran's home run completely fooled me. It jumped off the bat so quickly I didn't even see the ball. I thought he swung and missed. I had mentally scored it as a strikeout but then they switched cameras and I saw the ball land way past the right field wall.

I can't ever remember thinking a home run was a strikeout before.

Mark Grace is a boob. Those Diamondback announcers were awful.

I didn't realize the ballpark had changed names. Chase Field? That was news to me. I'll probably forget that I learned this and be surprised again the next time the Mets are in Arizona.

I was really encouraged by El Duque's performance, but I feel like he gave up quite a few loud outs in this game. Not that I'm complaining of course, but I point that out to show that this type of performance, is probably not going to become the norm.
