I've read different from different sources that Yogi Berra was either a gunner on a ship during D-Day or that he parachuted in.

I tend to believe the former. He was in the Navy, right? Seems to me the only guys who parachute in the Navy are the ones whose plane got shot down before they could make it back to the carrier.
