The Mets are runnig into a red hot Phillies team. At least the Mets have Pedro and Glavine going in this series, which should greatly improve the Mets chances. The back end of the Mets rotation scares me. I'm starting to feel like the old Boston Braves fans when the cry was "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain."

I read one somewhere this past week-

I thought that was reaching--I like some of the ones here better.

Burrell can swing a mean bat at times, but he may be the worst left fielder in cletes.
Maybe he just feels cramped in that lil acre they call left field at the Citizens Bandbox.
He plays left in Philly like he's afraid of his shadow.

I dont want him a Met-the guys a bum.
However, Burrell has 31 homers and 82 RBIs in 365 lifetime at-bats against the Metsies.

Come to think of it, I thought Von Hayes was a bum too.

Was it '86 or '88 when the Phils were a real thorn in the Mets side all season?

The Mets had no thorns in 1986 until Mike Scott in October.

You may be remembering the three-game sweep at the Vet in September of 1986. The Mets went down there needing one win to clinch the NL East, and the Phillies and their fans were very proud that they were able to deny them a clincher on their artificial turf.
