Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 January 6, 2005New York Mets traded Vance Wilson to the Detroit Tigers for Anderson Hernandez.Vance Wilson is entering his second season backing up Pudge in Detroit. After spending 2005 in Triple A, Hernandez made the Mets opening day roster in 2006, only to be disabled after 12 games with a bulging disc in his back.PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezNYNL12411600000700.146.146.146.2924801.000N/AWilsonDETAL6173610030200.421.412.353.8333701.00033%
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 2005 Review:Wilson had what was his worst offensive season backing up Pudge in Detroit. Hernandez showed promise in both AA and AAA, but only managed 1 hit, in his last at-bat of the season after being a September call-up.2005 Stats:PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezBHPTNEAST6627346891417241458119.360.462.326.821--14.946N/AHernandezNFLKINTL662613479642302246249.354.379.303.733--9.971N/AHernandezNYNL6181100001401.105.056.056.161--1.964N/AWilsonDETAL61152183040319112600.275.283.197.5582663.98934%
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Clearly AndyHandy does not have six hits, and seven triples.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 Thanks, fixed it. 7 was the number of strikeouts.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2006 Author Posted May 24, 2006 Hernandez has been officially activated off the ML 15-day disabled list and officially assigned to Norfolk. He's been there for the last 2 weeks on a rehabilitation assignment anyway. Doesn't look like he'll be back in the majors any time in the forseeable future.Wilson is still backing up at catcher for the first-place Detroit Tigers, who are still winning this minor trade.Stats through games of 5/23/06:PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezNYNL12411600000700.146.146.146.2924801.000N/AHernandezNFLKINT'L114051420023650.395.400.350.795Unav.Unav.Unav.N/AHernandezST LCFLA ST290100000100.111.111.111.222Unav.Unav.Unav.N/A---WilsonDETAL123441030160901.333.471.294.8046601.00050%
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Hard to leave him down long with those numbers.Don't forget the 2005 lines.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 Doesn't look like Hernandez will be seeing Shea at any time before September, at least not with Jose Valentin producing as he has. Keppinger hasn't gone away either.Vance Wilson seems to be enjoying (and contributing, in limited chances) to the Detroit success this year.PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezNYNL12411600000700.146.146.146.2924801.000N/AHernandezNFLKINT'L43172164442091227104.304.302.256.606Unav.Unav.Unav.N/AHernandezST LCFLA ST290100000100.111.111.111.222Unav.Unav.Unav.N/A---WilsonDETAL26749226031101701.325.500.297.82514201.00064%2005 Stats:PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezBHPTNEAST6627346891417241458119.360.462.326.821--14.946N/AHernandezNFLKINTL662613479642302246249.354.379.303.733--9.971N/AHernandezNYNL6181100001401.105.056.056.161--1.964N/AWilsonDETAL61152183040319112600.275.283.197.5582663.98934%
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 Anderson Hernandez seems to be showing that he really doesn't have major-league talent. Maybe it's just a really bad slump.Vance got to play everyday for a week while Pudge had a bruised thumb, but otherwise it's just general backup-catchingness. I'll bet he's looking forward to his first postseason.PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezNYNL12411600000700.146.146.146.2924801.000N/AHernandezNFLKINT'L753012975820161751125.289.289.249.578Unav.8Unav.N/AHernandezST LCFLA ST290100000100.111.111.111.222Unav.Unav.Unav.N/A---WilsonDETAL3711013327041302304.310.464.291.77421701.00035%2005 Stats:PlayerTeamLgGABRH2B3BHRRBIBBSOSBCSOBPSLGAVGOPSTCEFPCTCS%HernandezBHPTNEAST6627346891417241458119.360.462.326.821--14.946N/AHernandezNFLKINTL662613479642302246249.354.379.303.733--9.971N/AHernandezNYNL6181100001401.105.056.056.161--1.964N/AWilsonDETAL61152183040319112600.275.283.197.5582663.98934%
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Good report.Somebody talk to HoJo and find out what Andy was doing right last year that he's not doing this year.Raise your hand if you thought the Mets didn't give Hernandez an adequate chance to perform.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Trade Trackers, stick them in a subforum?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Way too many of those as it is. If I had my way I'd consolidate everything down to two forums - Baseball and Non-Baseball and thematic archive forums.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Yeah, but long-term conversationss like this, that can flare up at any time over a period of years, have a live-or-die situation every four weeks forcing you to bump and bump.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Bumps are good. Better to attract discussion than to have sitting in forum no one looks at. Lots of sub-fora make sense if you have a large number of active members, but since we've got 20 to 25 active people here at any one time its overkill, IMHO.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Still like bumps.Still hate sub-fora.Oh, and Mets content!
