Alright, what'd I miss here...I see Bannister is up to his usual tricks. 7 LOB, 72 pitches through 4 innings.

Gwreck, Gary just gave some very interesting info on Brian..including this game and counting his last start Brian has pitched 9 innings and thrown 184 pitches yet only gave up one run while stranding 17 on base....that's just nuts..

Brian Bannister...graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Al Leiter school of pitching, circa 2003-2004.

That's an amazing stat though. I wonder what Elias would have to say about that.

Bannister just walked his 5th batter of this game, 2-on, 0-out for Mike Piazza.

Yeah really, Keith mentioned how many walks were in that 9 innings, I forget what the count was though, but it was a lot.

Bannister gets the DP.

Would have preferred a triple play.

If I were a Padres fan I'd have killed myself four or five times tonight already.

I know he barely deserves it, but sure be nice if our O could give the rookie a chance to win.

The strange thing is that last season , both at Binghamton and Norfolk, Bannister displayed great contol. His walks per nine innings were low and his K's/wlaks was good as well. Maybe he's afraid to challenge the ML hitters (as he K's Castillo to end the inning).

Harry Houdini promised his fans that he'd return from the other side one day, what he didn't say is that he'd be named Brian Bannister... it's amazing how this guy gets into and out of trouble.

9 in a row retired by Williams. Offense, paging offense, please pick up the nearest red courtesy phone...

No win for the BB tonight.

In his 8 starts for the Tides last season, Bannister compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.18 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He ammassed 48 K's against only 13 walks in his 48.1 innings of work.

Whatever happened to that guy?

I think he's just mechanically a wreck right now and unbelieveably fortunate.

Meantime, our offense is dead for the 4th straight game. Take away the big 8th last night, and we've scored 4 runs on 15 hits in the last 31 innings.

Howie Rose was speculating that he can't throw his curveball for strikes, and if he gets control of it he'd be a lot better pitcher.
