metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 This Bannister is something else...when he needs to make that huge pitch he does...
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Alright, what'd I miss here...I see Bannister is up to his usual tricks. 7 LOB, 72 pitches through 4 innings.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 i think water is $4.50, its just crazy.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Gwreck, Gary just gave some very interesting info on Brian..including this game and counting his last start Brian has pitched 9 innings and thrown 184 pitches yet only gave up one run while stranding 17 on base....that's just nuts..
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Brian Bannister...graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Al Leiter school of pitching, circa 2003-2004.That's an amazing stat though. I wonder what Elias would have to say about that.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 So much for stealing off Piazza....Lo Duca's been even worse.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Bannister just walked his 5th batter of this game, 2-on, 0-out for Mike Piazza.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Yeah really, Keith mentioned how many walks were in that 9 innings, I forget what the count was though, but it was a lot.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Bannister gets the DP.Would have preferred a triple play.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Piazza DP!Bannister loves those.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Keith just said Batch had Bannister "by the short hairs"!!!I love it. Keith should be an extra on Deadwood.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Did Keith just say before the DP that the Padres have Bannister by the short hairs?...hahaha
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 the runners FINALLY catch up to bannister, its 1-1 on a single but he's still been very lucky.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 95 pitches, Oliver warming up. I think Bannister either gets out of the inning...or gets taken out.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 This guy is just freaky....another big out pitch.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 If I were a Padres fan I'd have killed myself four or five times tonight already.I know he barely deserves it, but sure be nice if our O could give the rookie a chance to win.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 The strange thing is that last season , both at Binghamton and Norfolk, Bannister displayed great contol. His walks per nine innings were low and his K's/wlaks was good as well. Maybe he's afraid to challenge the ML hitters (as he K's Castillo to end the inning).
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Harry Houdini promised his fans that he'd return from the other side one day, what he didn't say is that he'd be named Brian Bannister... it's amazing how this guy gets into and out of trouble.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 9 in a row retired by Williams. Offense, paging offense, please pick up the nearest red courtesy phone...
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 In his 8 starts for the Tides last season, Bannister compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.18 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He ammassed 48 K's against only 13 walks in his 48.1 innings of work. Whatever happened to that guy?

Take away the big 8th last night, and we've scored 4 runs on 15 hits in the last 31 innings.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Howie Rose was speculating that he can't throw his curveball for strikes, and if he gets control of it he'd be a lot better pitcher.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 2 on for Oliver, can he pull a Bannister?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 WOW, Oliver pulled a Bannister..
