Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 If Soriano is listed on the fantasy roster as a second baseman, and my inept computer drafter drafted him as my starting second baseman, can I use him a second baseman even if he's not actually playing second base? How do I access the free agent list, and how do I draft a free agent?
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yes, Soriano should be 2B eligable for the season. For FAs, when you're at the "My Team" screen, click "Add Players", browse the menus of guys available, and if/when you find your man, click the green plus sign next to his name. The site should walk you through the rest
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I'll just cut this cobversation off right now... Yahoo sets the position requirements, they sometime do so arbitrarily, and you can't change them. This was one of the reasons that my money league switched away from Yahoo. Don't get me wrong they're fine for a friendly league but don't use them if you have a pay league that can afford the ~$100 fee of most better sites.
Diamond Dad Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I thought we had a 2-player DL list for this league? I need to place Nomar on the DL and pick up a shortstop to use until he comes back. how do I add a shortstop without having to "drop" a player?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 You need to put Nomar on the DL first, but otherwise you should be able to do that.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Has anuone ever been in a league where your team is set for the week and can only be changed every Monday,it's bullshit, I didn't know it was going to like that,it's no fun at all, tonight I have 4 players and no pitchers going.
Guest cooby Guests Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 That's what ours is like (at home) it seems like a pain at first, but since it's so low maintenence, you come to appreciate it.
Diamond Dad Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I prefer weekly transactions -- let's you set your team for the coming week and not worry about scouring the wires every day to make sure that you have every possible favorable matchup in the active lineup for that night, or kicking yourself because there was a day game you forgot about and you didn't make the move you wanted to make in time, etc.To tell the truth, I wasn't sure how often our transactions process in this league -- the web site is not very clear on that
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 i set it for daily because that was the vote.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 What am I doing wrong? I cut two pitchers from my roster, then added two, but when I try to submit changes, I get a "this position has already been filled" error message. But it hasn't. I have two big blanks in my starting pitcher rotation.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 OK, now I have three starting pitchers, one relief pitcher, three guys labeled "pitcher," and three guys labeled "bench," one of whom I'd like to put on the DL but can't because that would give me too many DL players, even tho I only have one at the moment. I can't upgrade any of my "pitchers" to the starting rotation. I am getting hopelessly confused.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 The DL only has room for one, evidently. You can move guys between SP and P, or to the bench, as long as you don't have more than three designated SP's and two designated RP's, and 3 under the generic P designation.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 So it's a three-man rotation?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Not necessarily. You can move guys on and off the bench on a daily basis, enabling you to bench your starters on days when they don't pitch but keep your relievers active at all times. Remember, the stats for anybody designated 'P' count just as much as the others.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 Ulp -- then I really have to keep on top of this every day, or risk being so far down in the standings that only Willets Point and Willpie are looking up at me.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 TheOldMole wrote:Ulp -- then I really have to keep on top of this every day, or risk being so far down in the standings that only Willets Point and Willpie are looking up at me.lol.Just look for the ^ symbol next to the pitchers name. That means he's starting that day.You can use the dates above your roster on the MY TEAM page and set that up in advance (make sure you hit submit for any future changes to be locked in), if you dont want to do it on a daily basis. However many starters you have, thats your rotation. You have to rotate them into active slots from the bench on the days they pitch.

Guest cooby Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 What to do with Cameron? Activate him and put Beltran on reserves? Is Beltran gonna play this week?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 if those were my only 2 choices i'd reserve Beltran for Cameron this week, that being said I'd prefer an alternative to both for the week.
Guest cooby Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Well, last week I reserved Renteria and Trot Nixon, (guessed wrong on him, didn't I?) I activated both of them for this week. I'll probably sleep on it, but they keep saying Beltran is ready, so where the heck is he?Cameron came back in a hurry! It's good to see him
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 It took me a while to get into this, but now that I'm taking it seriously, upgrading my team, making clever strategic moves, I'm plummeting straight to the bottom.
Guest cooby Guests Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Hey I just realized there is an "Other Leagues" thread. Sorry folks, I will confine my bemoaning of Beltran there from now on

My head to head league has top 6 team playoff spots.Ive been battling to stay in the top 6 in the CPF one, lmao.Well, Ill be happy if my team can close with over 100 points.(Playoffs woulda been a nice payoff tho.)And Ive been able to study the dredges of the major and minor leagues and know way more than I should or need to know about baseball players. That should come in handy in my H2H league(I hope! 2nd place, 5 games out there)Good Luck Todd Heltons Meat--and you too, abogdan. And Vick Sage could make a run--good luck to him too.
willpie Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Wait, are you guys saying I'm not still in this thing?

It just gets harder as the season goes on.As for me, I was thinking there was a playoff like Zvon, so my goal was a top 6 finish. I'll still consider that a good year, especially given how bad my first two months were. More than that would be nice, of course...
