Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Yesterdays News said that in addition to Pelfrey, the 17 year old million $ man Fernando Martinez will be there, along with Milledge and Hector Pellot.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 We might see the ball-boys before it's all over since it's like a "triple-split" squad. Between the actual split squad who are playing the Dodgers somewhere and the fact that half the team is over in the PR dugout, we've got about 1/3 the team available.Pretty decent starting lineup though so it must be the LA game that's getting all the scrubs.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Some good pitching form the Gonzalaz boys, Dicky looks bigger than when he was a Met, nice hand and making lots of noise, Steve Phillips is doing the TV color, Millidge playing CF, Nady RF, Floyd LF, Matsui 2b,Castro C, Wright 3b and Harper playing first, Franco is the DH, Puerto Rico scores the first run.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Pedro giving a long interview during the game, when asked about his opening day start he said he hopes to make itis toe is still hurting, hasn't thrown live BP yet, hasn't thrown a breaking ball.....he's a great interview.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Thanks for the heads up - I'm happy to see the Mets on tv for the first time of the year
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Pelfrey gives up a hit and a 4 pitch walk during the inning, but also blew a couple of pitches right past Pudge for a K.No runs, one hit
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Beltran gets a big 2 run double off Wagner, 17 year old Fernando Martinez playing center for the Mets.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Schmoll didn't impress. And what's with his cap covering his eyes?Perhaps he'd do better if he could see his target?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Steve Phillips interviewing Omar Minaya. Yikes.Great backhanded stop and throw from the shortstop hole by #87.
Guest ABG Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Milledge has impressed. Decently hit grounder up the middle that got knocked down, ripped double down the line, robbed up against the fence.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Tomorrow's game against Mexico is on ESPN at 4:00.

Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Nice running-diving catch by Lastings in left.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Milledge just covered a lot of ground and made a nice, diving catch in left field.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 6 to 1 PR, Milledge flashing his glove on a nice catch in LF.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 And Lastings Milledge also made a nice catch in left field.(Sorry. Didn't want to feel left out.)
Guest KC Guests Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Mets lose, season's over before it starts. Freakin' Willie.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Put it in the books, Puerto Rico win 6 to 1, seemd to be a pretty good crowd, was soupcan going to that game?,just great to see Mets baseball again.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Cool, 'Baseball Tonight' for 90 minutes after the Met game.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 While we were watching this one, the rest of the Mets split squad lost 16-2 to LA.Soler (4 runs allowed) and Jason Scobie (8) got pureed. The two Met runs were driven in by Chase Lambin.Edit: Anderson Hernandez had an o-fer.The only Met error was by Corey Ragsdale. He's in mid-season form already.Later
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I dont think he HAD to dive for that one.I thought Kepp was hurt........He looks fine.
