Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 What do you guys know about him? He seems to be doing well in winterball. 13.7 K per 9 innings seems like a lot in any league. It there reason to think that he may be a contributor this year?http://www.metsgeek.com/mg_wlstats.html
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 i know nothing about him but I like his name.Very Roy Hobbs-esque.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Re-run from another thread.Owens is an apparent late-blooming righthander who has consistently struck out over 12 per nine. This year at St. Lucie he retarded his walk rate somwhat and got an invite to the AFL after an injury opened up a slot. The Mets got him in the minor league version of the Rule V draft a few yars back. He's relieved exclusively. The Hochster talks with Henry.A handsome guy with thinning hair.Like me.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 He was minor league Rule 5'ed from the Pirates. Evidently throws very hard. Slow to develop (was he injured?) cuz he'll be 27 in April and hasn't made it past A ball, but lotsa K's & a fair amount of walks.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Hopefully, he will be another Fred Norman, who took a while to find control, then went on to have a pretty long and decent major league career.http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/N/fred-norman.shtmlOr he could just be another Oscar Henriquez or Jim Mann.Later
