Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Where's he going? What's he worth? To whom? Is he done? Things have been quiet regarding the new ex-Met, but some media outlets are staying on the case to get the most recent poop. He's a traitor to his country. He's a big fat pig.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Well, there is one deep thinker who compares him, and not unfavorably, to Jesus Christ.http://catholicspirit.com/stories/2004/august/aug1letter.html
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 ]Having already been hit in the head, Piazza would have been well justified in charging the mound after Clemens threw the bat, yet he chose to walk away. At possibly the most emotionally charged moment of his life and on the biggest public stage imaginable, Mike Piazza chose to turn the other cheek, putting the good of his team ahead of any personal need for vengeance. Instead of being applauded for this act of selflessness, stemming from one of the tenets of his own Catholic upbringing, Mike Piazza has been soundly villainized to this day; called every name in the book and had his manhood questioned."Soundly villainized?" Wow! How did I miss that?
Guest cooby Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Good heavens, this idolizes him even more than that OTHER article that Bret dug up
Guest cooby Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Oh, wait a minute. I just read who wrote it
Guest vtmet Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 On this rendition of the CPF, I've lost track of "Who is who they used to be"...I know that I am me...cooby is cooby...soupcan is soupcan...and a few others...I'm starting to "guess" that Bret is "Sal"....based on the last 2 Piazza links that he provided...
Guest cooby Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Hey vermont, how are ya?This might help, the thread itself is on page 4 of the Non Baseball Forumhttp://cybermessageboard.ehost.com/getalife/viewtopic.php?t=307
Guest vtmet Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 not bad cooby...it's been warm but snowing today...how snow sticks when it is almost 40 degrees, I don't get but it's sticking and melting at the same time...We had something weird 2 days ago, called "Frozen Fog" according to the radio...it was foggy and then it got cold before the fog disapated so the trees looked like giant icicles...not looking forward to tomorrow morning when it's supposed to be about 10 degrees and the driveway will probably be a sheet of ice...Thanks for the link of who's who...I'll check it out in a minute...first I want to try to figure out a few in my head before finding out the real answers...
Guest vtmet Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 wow...I'm surprised...I made the original list back in June...and I didn't think that I post enough to be remembered...Thanks Rockin' Doc...

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 lol @ the [u:0dcd175a1a]hes a big fat pig[/u:0dcd175a1a] link.we all have to be thinking it....feeling it. (brets excused)How when next season starts, and Piazza isnt there, we have begun a new chapter in Met history.
Guest vtmet Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I might have missed it...but weren't there 2 different posters at metsonline that used a derivation of "jb"? I know the one was "old original jb" or "original jb"...but wasn't there someone using "jb" who was actually someone else?
Guest old original jb Guests Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 There was another jb with whom I got into some stupid argument which I now don't even remember what it was. I also have the vague sensation that it might have been someone here or someone who is still on the mofo under another name. Maybe it was you vt.Anyway, I added "original" to jb, (just as we have Ray's, Original Ray's, Famous Original Ray's and Ray Bari--all of which don't hold a candle to real brick oven pizza.)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Is Bret turning into stalker?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Ms. Kelly's selective memory seems to have conveniently overlooked Piazza's altercation with the Dodgers Guillermo Mota in the spring of 2003.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 if i was one of "mike piazza's people" I'd have her picture issued to everyone and a big indelible inked mark of "be very afraid"

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 What other player can say they have had a ball, bat and glove thrown at them from the pitchers' mound....
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I remember that fight. D-Dad didn't feel like watching spring training, but I was baseball starved and we kept the TV on. That was surreal - Piazza looked like he was possessed or something!
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Centerfield - "What other player can say they have had a ball, bat and glove thrown at them from the pitchers' mound...."Yet oddly, no punches have been thrown at him.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 From Bob klapisch.]NEWS ITEM: Where is Mike Piazza? That's the question a lot of GMs are asking this week. The assumption was he would have signed somewhere by now, but the Met catcher turned free agent is still looking for a job with spring training just six weeks away.Piazza's best hope is with the Orioles, who are looking to trade Javy Lopez or else move him to first base. That would create an opening at the DH spot. The A's also are considering Piazza, but their first choice at DH is still the rehabbing Frank Thomas.News Item from me: Where is Sam Champion?I've not seen him on ABC news doing the weather in a while.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Carlos Beltran didn't sign last year until January 11, so I think it's a little too early for the tongues to be wagging about Piazza not being signed yet.I bet that girl that Bret has been stalking is hoping that he's still unsigned on May 1.
Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 To this day the sound of his name makes me sick. No balls...Yankee fans that still diss Mike simply prove that the Y- are the MFY's and are anti just about anything I beleieve inCleon Jones 11P.S. Donald Grant..I want my damn van back!
Guest vtmet Guests Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 so what team takes a chance on him with a $500K minor league spring training invite?

Guest vtmet Guests Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I'm not surprised...I couldn't believe how many posters at various forums that I go to, thought that Omar should have offered Mikey 2 years for $10-12 Mil total...IMO, after the past 3 seasons, he's not even close to that value...JT Snow just signed for 1 year at 2 mil, while JT never had the power that Mikey had/has, right now, IMO he brings more value to a team...other than dingers, what does Mikey really offer? Before Mikey went on the dl, there was about a 6 week stretch where we had a much better winning percentage when Shrek was our starting catcher over when Mikey was our catcher...and it wasn't because Shrek was the world's greatest complete catcher, just that he had less "achillies heels"....
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 How easy we forget what Mikey did for this team, JT Snow should never be mentioned in the same breath as Piazza.
