Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 He brandishes that ring like he's in the mob, doesn't he?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 great pics!Last time I saw Buddy was afew years ago in AC when he was manager of that minor league BB team from Long Island. They were playing the AC Surf.I hung out after the game and saw Bud about to head thru the tunnel.I was like "Hey Buddy!"And he looked up and says "Hi!"And I didnt know what to say. I never had these kind of problems when I was a kid with players or celebs, but here I was tongue tied.So blurt out, " You still playin the guitar?!?"He says " Yea! You play?"So I go " Yea.""What kind a stuff do you play?" he asks.Im like OMG this is gonna turn into a conversation....I got all deer in the headlights.I say," a lila this, a lil a that, ya know Beatles, Dave Matthews...."And he must have seen how nervous Im sure I suddenly looked. This was the same guy who gave me my 1st autograph in '71.I was like frozen. He goes " Thats great," and he gives a wave and says," Cya around, " and proceeds down the tunnel.I really think he woulda stayed there and talked if it wasnt for this look of frozen blank stupidity that overtook my face.I was really pissed at myself for chokin up like that. But it was Buddy!

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Someone retell the Bud/Seaver "I'll call you..." story from the '86 series. I can't remember all the details but it was a great story.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 WOW. Is that a baseball card?Thats kool. When I first saw that photo online, years ago, I thought it was from the Harrelson/Rose fight. Then I noticed Rose wasnt wearing the Reds uniform with the elastic waistband, like the Reds did wear in '73.Of course, the date right on the mag would have been the logical way to tell.Heres that same pic with the magazine printing photoshopped out of it.
Guest cooby Guests Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I wasn't sure either, if it was a vintage card or a modern one. Pretty neat though. I never even looked at the guy on the ground
