Yea. It was finished.
Hosted the '64 AllStar game.

But they did make some changes and additions (like the plexiglass outfield bullpen section of the fence), that ended up being the way Shea looked for many years, until the overhaul in the early 80's.
Thats when they changed the color of the big scoreboard and the outfield walls to blue.

That big square thing on top of the scoreboard with the Met logo in it- that was supposed to be a screen where a slide show showing the current batter was supposed to be displayed.
I dont know if they ever got that to actually work (never saw it in use myself), but I was up in there (in the scoreboard) in the early 70's and it contained the remains of a humongous revolving slide show projector.

Me and a buddy hid in a closed concession stand after a game until the place cleared out.
Then we snuck out onto the field.
There were these people sweepin the isles and stuff, but they paid us no mind.
The lights were down and they looked like zombies.

We ran around the field (there was a tarp over the plate, which was a bummer-but we slide into second!),
went into the dugout (there was this lil creeky catwalk back down those steps to the tunnel to the clubhouse),
climbed up into the scoreboard (there was a ladder near one of its legs.).

We explored the place for some time.
The actual door to the clubhouse, in this horseshoe tunnel runing under the seats, was locked.

Had a ball that night.

Earlier in the thread we did Buddy Harrelson week

While I was in Vegas this past weekend Pete Rose was there siging autographs. They were selling B&W photos of the famous Pete & Bud fight.
