Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 We've got some interest in reading and discussing a baseball book together.Edgy nominated in this thread the book Wrecking Crew by John Albert.Metirish nominated in this thread the book Kiss it Goodbye :The Frank Thomas Story by original Met and recent Crane Pool visitor Frank Thomas.Vote above and a simple majority will prevail (please don't vote if you don't intend to participate). Voting closes Tuesday January 3d at 10 AM. I suggest we begin our discussion of the book the week of Jan. 30th.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I vote Kiss It Goodbye: The Frank Thomas Story followed by Wrecking Crew.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 The latter. One dog at a time.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Let's show some love to our new Pool-Mate.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I'm down with reading "Kiss It Goodbye". It would be great if we could have Frank Thomas join in on the discussions from time to time.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I'm not necessarily voting any particular way, but isn't the point of a book club to have debates and discussion? Is there much to debate in Thomas' book?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Discussion, yes, debate if it comes to it.Some books folks have had in book groups are about the history of rocketry.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 Bumping this up for one last push before the vote closes on Tuesday. Frank Thomas' autobiography will likely and deservedly be the book of choice, so you can also consider this a reminder to get a copy of the book over the weekend and start reading.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 In a sweep (only I voted lets read two) the Crane Pool forum has spoken to read Frank Thomas's autobiography Kiss it Goodbye. Order your copy today or request it from your local library (if they don't have it demand they get it or donate your copy when you're done).Discussions begin Jan. 30th.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 well, I didnt get it for Christmas (it was a late wish) but this book is number one on my list next time I get to Borders.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 You may want to order it online. I suspect that Borders won't be carrying it.
