Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 From today's Daily News:Victor Diaz was expected to travel to Atlanta as a hedge against Carlos Beltran or Bannister being placed on the disabled list today, but there's no guarantee Diaz will be activated.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Bannister to DL, Victor Diaz promoted. As reported by Adam Rubin's Daily News blog.

He said he wants to keep Oliver in the pen and believes someone will be brought up to start in Bannister's spot. He mentioned Maine and someone else(forgot but a non-40 man guy) and then added Lima. He then intimated that Lima hasn't been doing that well. I got the impression Willie wouldn't be too thrilled if it is Lima.Later

Unless they get more confidence in Julio as a setup man, they don't seem willing to be moving Aaron Heilman. I suspect, though, that if this looks like Bannister is to miss more than one start, then they can call up Bell and start Aaron.Starting PitchersGlavineMartinezOliverTrachselZambranoRelief PitchersBradfordFelicianoHeilmanJulioSanchezRelief PitchersCatchersInfieldersWagnerTug McGraw Memorial Goofy Reliever Roster SlotCastroLo DucaDelgadoDonn Clendenon Memorial Slugging Firstbaseman Roster SlotFranco

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Today's Daily News reported that the Mets have released Todd Self.Considering the fact that he was batting .108 with no home runs, I guess you could say this was self-inflicted.This creates a spot on the 40 man roster. Since Jose Lima was pulled from his last start after pitching two scoreless innings, does this mean it might be Lima Time at Shea this Sunday?Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter.Edit: Edgy's list shows he wasn't on the Mets' 40 man roster. But it makes room on the Norfolk roster for recently signed Jose Offerman.(But I still like my "self-inflicted" line anyhow.)Later

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I don't know. I think Cammie was the Agee legacy incarnate, but Beltran is the closest thing to carrying it on.Agee also had a far lousier first year than Beltran when he first came to Shea. He knew from adversity.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Agee's awful first year with the Mets was because of a terrible Spring Training beaning by Bob Gibson. It was the first time I remember actually yelling at the TV set when I saw Agee go down. Later

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 You know its funny, in the 2003 and early on in 2004 the Boston media was harping about how the clubhouse was really a 22+1+1+1 team with ManRam, Nomar and Pedro as the "Islands onto themselves" in stories that were printed obstentibly to grease the skids for Nomar's and Pedro's eventual leaving and the potential ManRam leavingWell its funny looking at the 25 Mets in their official 2006 MLB mug shots and Pedro is the only one A) in a different hat and not facing directly into the camera!I guess Pedro really is a 24 and one guy! Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Zambrano was DLed to make room for Lima on the 25. Not sure what the move was to get Lima on the 40.OE: Probably was a 60-man DL move. Zambrano reportedly out for the year.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Espn reporting that Heath Bell has been recalled. But now here's where it gets interesting. The first report had Feliciano being sent down, another has Fortunato being sent down. If its the first, it was dumb. If its the second, he earned the demotion on pure merit.Maybe some update guy in Bristol, CT really does think they all DO look alike. (SC= 8.4)Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I should've seen that coming, as Tim Lavigne and not Bell finished up for the Tides yesterday.
Guest abogdan Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Rotoworld says it's Fortunato that got sent down.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 That essentially gives us 8* relievers for the Philly series - one of whom will likely have to disappear in order to make way for Jeremi Gonzalez by Friday.Gonzalez would also need to be added to the 40-man.Wagner (L)HeilmanSanchezOliver (L)BellFeliciano (L)JulioBradford
Guest abogdan Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Who's getting DFA'ed? Has to be one of the lefties, though neither has done anything worty of being DFA'ed.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 We'll cross that bridge in time. Nobody has to get DFA'd It could well be Bell going right down. The Gonzalez start may not come off at all.
