I'd like anyone but the Yankees, Braves, and Red Sox to win, though it wouldn't bother me that much if Boston won. I'm just kind of sick of them.

I don't really want Houston to win either because I hate Roger.

So I guess I'm going with Other.

Ask me again after the divisional series are over.

I want Chicago's fans to get the monkey off their back, but I can't really say much that I like about that organization. They've been in bed with Steinbrenner way too much.

I went for the White Sox for my in-laws' sake and so that they get the monkey offa their damn back.

Two lists:

Boston
Chicago
Los Angeles
New York

Atlanta
Houston
San Diego
St. Louis

AL wins big-time in city stature.

Look for Houston games to be accompanied by hurricane montages.

Maybe they can talk to some of those fortunate homeless evacuees who are so happy to be in Texas.

Sawx, I'd like them to win four or five in a row if the Mets can't be in it.

This is a Mets site and we only have one person who's voted for an NL team. Turncoats, we are. No league pride.

I used to always root for the National League team, but it's been a long time. I first went AL in 1995, and I rooted AL again in 1997, 2002, and 2004.

League pride? What's that? Am I supposed to be proud if the San Diego Padres can beat the Chicago White Sox?

I sure grew up that way.

Once I had the illusions that rooting for one league made me a proud member of one culture over another. You grow up and learn that choice is an illusion in the ever-merging capitalist marketplace. National League or American League? Visa or Mastercard? Looney Tunes or Merry Melodies? Bloods or Crips? Does any of it matter any more?

Posted

Yeah, I too used to think that way. Then again, I used to believe a lot of things that I no longer do, but that's another story.

I used to root for the National League in the All-Star Game. I used to root for the National League in every World Series. And I even used to root for the NL East in every LCS. (I think that stopped for me in 1984.)

Now, as Edgy says, none of it matters anymore.

It's good that most people have a rooting interest. I was expecting a lot of Don't Care's. Though I guess anyone but the Yanks and/or Braves is kind of the same thing.

There's two kinds of "don't cares".
One is the one where you have no specific rooting interest in a club.
The other is the one where fans profess not to care about the post-season entirely because their team is no longer in it -- I've never understood that sort of thinking from supposed baseball fans.

I have only one specific rooting interest in this post-season.
Aside from that I'll just watch as a fan although I usually pull for the NL team in the end.

I think the "other" vote is interesting

Though technically, I could say I want the Mets to win it all, and that is the question

Grrrr.

I guess I could've made a category that read anyone except Yankees, Braves, Red Sox, and Astros, but I thought that seemed overly self-indulgent.

Anyone but the Braves.

I really just like to see it unfold, when the Mets arent in it.
I have sentiments, but they really dont matter.
I just love playoff baseball.

Id go with the story book ending where Chicago wins it for the 1st time since 1917, if forced to choose.

thats odd, cuz Id pick the Boston to win this 1st playoff series to hopefully see a Yanks/ Redsox match up, but still would like to see the White Sox go the long haul chosing from the start.
I guess Im just a baseball fan.
