Former Oakland player Carlos Pena homers off of his former team to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning.

Detroit has a 4-1 lead over Oakland.

In Pittsburgh, a 3-RBI hit by Ty Wigginton helped the Pirates build a 7-0 lead over St. Louis. As I type, our old friend is pitching to the Cardinals in the 6th with the bases loaded.

OE - Baby Boomer gets out of the jam, and it's still 7-0 Pittsburgh.

St. Louis now has Ray King pitching. Dear lord - that man is fatter than Mickey Lolich!

Pena has homered twice tonight, and has all four RBIs against his former team.

The Cubs have a 4-0 lead over Atlanta in the 4th.

Boston is leading KC by the same score in the same inning.

4-1 holds up as the final in Detroit.

Pittsburgh leads St. Louis 8-0.

Chicago leads Atlanta by the same score.

Neither of these are laughers, btw.

Cincinnati leads Washington 6-2 in the 9th.

Toronto has a tenuous 3-2 lead over the MFYs in the 8th.

It's a final in Washington - the Nats lose to Cincy 6-2.

Toronto regains the run in the top of the 9th. On to the bottom of the 9th in the Bronx.

And now, the important scores:

Cubs 8, Braves 1, 8th
Philly 0, Frisco 0, 1st

In Minnesota, Freddie Garcia of the ChiSox takes a no-hitter into the 8th until Jacque Jones leads off with a solo HR. It's Minny's only hit of the game but it's enough for the 1-0 vicotry. Johan Santana combined w/Joe Nathan for a 3-hit shutout.

I love pitchers' duels like that.

Don't forget San Diego 1, Houston 0 in the third. This could be a really good night for the Mets.

Right there is reason enough to love (and hate) baseball.

Milwaukee's lead is now 11-1 over Florida.

The Cubs lead Atlanta 10-1 in the 9th.

The time-of-game, btw, in Minnesota was 2:08

That's a couple of bad starts for Thomson of Atlanta since his return from the DL. Andruw still managed his 40th!! HR. Burnitz hit a grannie.

It was Beckett that took it on the chin for Florida.

That's Clemens vs Peavy in SD

Oakland lost (that's like 6 of 7 for them now) but Cleveland won and stays in a virtual tie w/Yanx in WC race.
Boston's in charge vs KC.

Phils unloading on Brett Tomko, up 5-1.

Gary and Howie can't help but take jabs at the MFY's, giving the OoTSC and talking about Escolona's game winner Howie said..

] Escolona is a yankee hero, they'll be wiring him up any minute for a half hour interview
you could hear Gary laughing in the background.

KC scores two in the 9th, but Boston hangs on to win 5-2.

Padres win!!!! 2-0 over Jackass Clemens.

Phils still leading SF, 5-2 in the 7th,

Still, looks to be a good night for the Mets.

I love how Scarlet drops an F-bomb right after her son posts. Classic.

If I didn't hate Roger Clemens with the passion of a thousand fires, I'd feel bad for the guy that he has an ERA of 1.58 but only eleven wins. But since I'm not much of a Clemens fan, I kinda enjoy that.

After Saturday's game, he saw every bad word he's ever going to see in his life.

It's cooby's fault - she said that I shouldn't shield him from this stuff.

Seriously, I figure it's not a bad thing if he sees this place as the context where people swear. If the bullpen meltdown that night isn't a reason to swear, then no reason exists. And the kid has a good sense of context (moreso than his older siblings do).

FWIW, he was reading the stream of curse words and laughing over the different combinations.

Did he see Vic's explanation of what he'd do if he grabbed a foul ball?

Mom, we consider it a highly technical term.
Anyone who works with computers knows this.
You may have a future Bill Gates on your hands. (If he doesn't become a Doctor or Lawyer, that is)
