It wasn't mentioned at all during the IGT at all. . . but does anyone know what Pedro's velocity was tonight? Was he throwin hard or did he look like he needed a rest?

Mid 80s, lots of cutters and two seamers.

I think that foot is still bothering him.

I just rock back and forth knowing that in 11 days we could have Bell and Ring back which means fewer opportunities for Willie to use Graves and Koo.

This was a great IGT. Thank you all so much.

Looper was crap last night; he wasn't even hitting 89 on the WPIX gun, and if he's not throwing harder, he's throwing meatballs. You had to know he was going to give up hits... I was just hoping they would be hit right at someone.

I'll say what I've said all year; I don't trust Diaz at ALL. With his glove, with his bat, with anything.

I think the gun was slow. I mean, Petey blew a few "81" mph fastballs past people and he had a couple 78'er that I'm pretty sure were actual fastballs and not changeups.

Hernandez was slower than I remembered as well.

i was there last night, easily the worst win ever. kaz matsui was given a loud boooo which i think was as much for randolph pulling pedro as it was for him. i really dislike randolph, he doesn't know how to use a pitching staff at all.

Easily the worst win ever?

Seaver is laying it heavy about Pedro coming out after only six innings. The party line is that Pedro didn't feel "right" after the sixth. Seaver will have none of it, saying that the starter's job is to go at least 8 innings. He also mentions that Rick Peterson has been "protective" about Pedro and his early exits.

He also walked uphill in the snow both ways to school every morning.

Which was pretty unusual for Fresno, California <g>

FTR, he didn't say "at least 8." He said "At least 7." He also said "get you to the 8th," whcich may explain the confusion.

In any event, he certainly felt that six was wimping out.

Ass or not, I think he had a point in this case.

Bah, whatever. Petey's going to be on our team for a long, long time, and it's in our best interests to keep him healthy. Coddling him whenever we get the chance is smart, and I'm happy we're doing it.

I just wish we were making more smart choices.
