Yeah. If your starting CF can't be trusted to hit on a night with a short bench, maybe we need a different CFer.

I mean, I'd PH here too but...

Hernandez, goaltender.

with beltran out, Williams has become a liability to this team's depth...he cant be trusted to hit, we need a CFer now, call up redman i guess.

wild pitch (or passed ball, whichever) gets the go ahead run to third with 1 out! unacceptable!

Better a walk than most other outcomes there -- DP is in order, catcher batting.

Bert is a tough old bastard, isn't he?

Hernandez, escape artist.

Nice try on the mid-intentional-walk pickoff by Padilla. Twice released Jose Cruz Junior with 2 on, 1 out, bottom 9th.

This doesn't look especially promising.

Swinging at pitches off the plate is all.

Frustrating.

It's 2:13. I don't want to stay up this late for a loss, kids.

This thread reads like a tragic novel in which you can sense the ending by the midway point, but you keep reading anyway. Then when you finally finish the book and see that you were coreect all along, you walk away dejected and unsatisfied.

I woke up thinking they had won :(

Me too. I was really hoping that they would rally behind their injuries and put together a big win. But this team, as much as I really want them to, just doesn't seem to have it. Hopefully they can learn enough in these last fifty games to propel them well into 2006.

I'm growing weary with the schizophrenia that this club both has and gives me. Every win, I think they're putting it together; every loss, and the season's over. Frustrating.

I've said it before and I will continue to say it until you all fall in line dammit!

This is a .500 team.

And that's fine you know?

They were horrible last year. This year they are a much better team. Fun to watch even. They'll be better next year just be patient.

I'm glad that Omar did not pull the trigger on a Steve Phillips like deal this year. It's a good nucleus. Let this guys play and grow together. This team has a real chance to be very good for 5-10 years and how very cool would that be?

It would be very very cool.

A 22 year old left side of the infield! How do you beat that?

Pitchers we all thought would suck pitching well!

A groovy outfield (yes, they will heal, god love them) that can run and catch!

This loss hurt, but like Rockin' Doc said, you could see it coming since the Dodgers tied it up in the 7th. I just wish I hadn't stayed up to witness it . . .

How about Victor Diaz, though? We could do worse next year than an OF of Diaz, Floyd & Beltran. If we can get ourselves a nice young first baseman and maybe give Hernandez the job at second next year, we could have a decent offense, and our pitching should be solid again. Castro might give us average offense at C, so we could probably stand pat there if nothing comes up . . .

since we were dumb enough to trade our catching prospect and not to aquire a catcher for the future, re-signing piazza for a ONE year deal isn't the worst move...but PLEASE met management dont be stupid and give him 2 or 3 years. also don't give him a contract that automatically grants a 2nd year based on ABs...his health isnt the only question.
