MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Today's Dail News said that Reyes' 20 game hitting streak brings him within 4 of the Met all-time record, shared by two people. But didn't Mike Vail have one that lasted around 30 games in his rookie year?Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 The number 23 sticks in my head for Vail.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Vail's 23 tied a record that had previously been set by Cleon Jones.Hubie broke it with 24, and Piazza later tied Hubie's record.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 October 2, 2001Vail had a 23 game hitting streak in '75. It ended in an 18 inning game vs. the Expos at Shea when Dale Murray walked Felix Millan with the bases loaded. Vail had like 8 plate apperances that night and couldn't get a hit.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Weird coincidence: I was at Game 19 in both Floyd's and Reyes's hit streaks this year... and I've only been to three games at Shea.
