Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Action is riveting. That talking baseball thing leads to an upsurge in hate crimes. I'm sure of it.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Wow. How many trees died so Carlos Beltran could be voted into the All-Star Game?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 This time it counts, though.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Andruw Jones hits a bomb to left to put the National League on the board.AL 7 NL 2
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 The drivel has driven me away from the game. I'm watching Mr. G's weather report now, and at 11 I'm catching The Daily Show.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 The most infuriating thing to me (other than the final score) was the Fox graphics. One of the reasons for the game is to give the fans a chance to see players they might not have seen before or know much about. Buehrle having a great year? Oswalt being compared to Clemens at the same age? Peavy led the league in ERA last year?Gee, I wonder how hard they throw? And I still don't know, because Fox didn't have radar gun readings displayed on the screen. The one line graphic under the stats when the player came to bat told us things like "Player X is second in runs scored in the league". But we were never told either how many he has, or who the leader is.As a fan, I would have liked more information.Later
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I agree, 62. The graphics were odd. But to their credit, they left Scooter (or whatever their stupid little CG character is) at home.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I tuned out when they started playing God save the fucking Queen, I knew it was going to be a shit night after that.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I guess you can write that off to peace being arduous.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 How did I miss God Save The Fucking Queen? I must have slept through that part.
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 It was before the National Anthem (which for once was very nicely done)

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Cooby you're right, The National Anthem sounded great last night.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Anyone see this ad scam during the game?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 thanks for the link WP, that clears that up, I saw it and was wondering why FOX would show it, from the article.]But their ruse was easily discovered once you realized that Fox would never hold its camera on an unknown website and read the URL on air.exactly.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 The fact that they showed it and talked about it for so long AND that the sign was obviously not done by hand (because the two H's looked identical) it smelled fishy to me from the start.Still, I was tempted to go to the website. But out of principle, I resisted.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I distinctly remember that (although I wouldn't have been able to remember the name of the page now without seeing that article) during the game. I tried to go to the website right away, as my notebook was right in front of me, but it was mobbed, as the article says. I quickly x'ed out of the window in case it really was some moron promoting their porn site or something.Low blow by Chevy and Fox.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Lower still by McCarver and Buck to consent.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Yeah. Just revolting to know those guys were in on it, and shame on the producers, chevrolet and mlb to have such little regard for the audience.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Trying to pass off a commercial for Fantastic Four as an alleged preview was also particularly crass. At least it seemed that way until the banner disgrace. How does McCarver sleep at night?
