Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 How many think that Piazza's wrist may turn out to be a disabling situation? How many think that, while Piazza has been underwhelming this year, the dropoff from him to Castro could be Castrating? How many think that the Mets should stop burying Mike Jacobs in Bingo and get him some catching time in Norfolk NOW!!!! because they're going to need him sooner or later this season? How many think that the Castro's got more in his bat than we've seen, and some regular PT could bring it out?How many thing the editors were going for a double entendre when they reported that "x-ray's on Piazza's wrist were negative"?Basically it all comes down to this related question: How long do you think you could live with a catching staff of Castro and DeFelice?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 I think it's the Curse of the One Thousand Hits.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Is this like Seaver and HIS MOUND?BTW, Yancy what's up with UMDB? Is it serious or just routine maintenance?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Probably a little serious. This happens from time to time, but always gets fixed. The site is on a server shared with other domains, and sometimes one of the neighbors does something to screw things up. I've opened a ticket and I know that it'll get fixed.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 I'm really torn on Piazza; part of me says he's borderline worthless offensively, and part of me says he's just waiting for a hot streak. Maybe two weeks off might help. I can't see how Castro, Hietpas, DeFelice, or whoever could be much worse than with Piazza has given the club, on both sides of the ball.Castro was a major offensive prospect not too long ago; perhaps regular time would surprise us. I don't know.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Should Mike be out for a while, I think all our internal options would be clear downgrades offensively and clear upgrades defensively. Castro might suprise--he put up some impressive minor league numbers in 2000 & 2001 (27 HR in 390 ABs in AAA 2001)--and I don't mind seeing how he responds to full-time duty for a while, but I wouldn't expect him to do better than Mike has.The silver lining to this is that it might cause Willie to move Wright up in the order and will give him an excuse to keep Piazza down when he gets back. Oh, and I've no idea how serious the injury is. Since nothing's broken, I'm assuming that he'll be able to come back at full strength within a week. But what do I know?
