metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 the SoSH had an IGT about the Mets game tonight...great read ..http://p086.ezboard.com/fsonsofsamhornbostonredsox.showMessage?topicID=15518.topic
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 "I really miss that Dominican Diva."ROFLThanks Irish - great stuff :)
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 With yesterday's win, the New York Mets are the 2005 NL Wild Card Leaders. (tied with Atlanta)
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Did everyone miss lubitol saying he bowled a 300? In match play? That had to be awesome. Was it your first 300 game?
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 ]Take Pedro out and we miss this, pure joy..Pure joy is always fun, and complete games are always fun. But I'd still rather see pure joy and complete games in September and October.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 We did all kind of just skip over that thought. Very cool, lub. We saw a guy bowl a 299 once, a couple of lanes down from us: from then on forward, any time anyone left one pin standing, we called it a "Larry" in honor of that guy.I loved the CG last night; I think it can only help his (and Willie's) cahnfidence down the road. He was cruising! If he was laboring, then I'd say get him out of there, but he wasn't, so I have no problem letting him finish it.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Really?Holy crap.I'm lucky to roll a 100."What do you mean 'brought it bowling,' Dude? I didn't rent it shoes. I'm not buying it a fucking beer. He's not taking your fucking turn."
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Goddamn - those SOSHers are still fixated on the man. You'd think that with their boys on Queer Eye last night they could've focused their energy elsewhere.

The funny thing is that since I was in match play, I didn't have time to get nervous, so bowling in that kind of a match helped. Before that I had gotten to the last ball 3 times for a 297 and a pair of 299's ( I got screwed on both of them)
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 It's Iubitul - and I'll just say that it's not an English word.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 There's a legendary Russian camera called a lubitel.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 You can watch all 12 Pedro K's on Mets.com, it's the MSG feed.Trivia.Fran Healy caught two no hitters, who did he catch?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Petey makes me happy. When he struck out the side in the ninth, I was grinning ear to ear. I wonder how he would've done had we pitched him tonight instead of yesterday. Given his splits on 4 days versus 5, it might have been an even more historic performane. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I'm liking this team right now.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 From the SoSH board:]Also, his .151 OBA is the second lowest after 12 starts since 1920 (SportsCenter was actually useful tonight). 1920. I'd start a thread gushing about Pedro's performance so far, but I'm too superstitious.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 In the post-game and during the game, they said that the pen lost three of Pedro's leads this year. I remember Opening Day of course, and I thought I remembered one more, but I didn't think there was a third.Opening Day was definitely a shoulda won. Pedro could be 8-1. As long as he's being jinxed up and down, a Met winning the Cy Young would be cool. The SBS (or is it SSB?) team is going to have a my head on a platter.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Anybody still working from the perspective that Pedro Martinez doesn't like pitching to Mike Piazza to the point of insisting on Ramon Castro?

Haven't heard a whisper about that as of late.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I wasn't sure where to stick this, but:The last time the Mets were four games over .500 was July 31, 2002.Wow.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 We were four games over .500 in 2002?Double wow.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Was that the year we went 0-for-August at home or was it one of the other recent terrible years?
Guest 86-Dreamer Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Hopefully they won't lose their next 13 home games like they did in August 2002! Rough month that August of 2002
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 They won for us during our game in Milwaukee on August 8, then went south immediately thereafter.
Guest Iubitul Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 ok - so we now know that SK can no longer go to Mets games in Milwaukee in August.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 No, it means that I should travel with them the whole month, not just on my son's birthday :p
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 That's right. That was the time Benitez ruined our season by blowing the save in the first game of a doubleheader against the DBacks causing us to go into a tailspin for the rest of the month. I remember thinking it was irresponsible of Benitez to pick that game to blow a save. I hope Looper won't repeat that mistake.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 That surprises me (the 4 games over thing).I would've thought that last year when we were in it up until the All-Star break that we were several games over .500. Guess not.
