Two guys (Bill Murray and Harold Ramis) join the Army, go through basic training and meet some memorable characters (including John Candy and John Lacourette.).

Last 1/3 of the movie--the whole humvee thing--is a letdown after a really funny beginning and middle. You could actually relate to Murray joining the army given his civilian prospects.

You can't deny it the iconic lines either but IMO this movie was great and just kept getting worse

Yep, like they had time to fill. But the first part, about basic training, was as realistic as it was funny, if you ever went through Basic.
