Some Sports Illustrated-affiliated outlet (I don't know where reports are coming at me from anymore) told me that the reason this took so long going down is that the Sox were asking for Baty, and while the Mets were turning that down, they were countering by offering Vientos.

They apparently split the difference with Luisangel Acuna and Truman Pauley.
