As for me and my house, when you say "Ozuna" we say, "drugs."

Like, lots of 'em.

Also domestic violence, and not the minor kind.

He's also slow, position-less (last played the field in '23) and showed a significant decline in production last season which, at 35 y/o, is increasingly unlikely to see a return to where he was in '23-'24. The Braves usually know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em and they made no attempt to keep him.

I tend to think the drugs and the aggravated assault and the highly unlikely revitalization of his batting skills and the loss of mobility disqualifying him from the outfield are all of a piece.

If there is anything to that, I wouldn't want to be in a position of rooting for the guy, as that would feel a whole lot like rooting against the safety of his wife and those closest to him.

He is only partially there to give the lineup added juice and respectability. The other part is to stockpile him for a trade at the deadline.

That's an excellent point, and I don't think enough rebuilding teams take advantage of it. If the 2023-24 Ozuna shows up but the Pirates aren't contending in July, they still bought themselves a good prospect.

Jose Quintana to Colorado. I thought he might be one of those guys still available when we get our first starting pitcher injury of the spring.

Griffin Canning has reportedly signed a 1 year deal for $4.25 mil. with the Padres, pending a physical.

I wouldn't have minded the Mets grabbing him for that. You can never have too much starting pitching. With Megill out for the season and the physically fragile Kodai Senga likely to breakdown, the Mets have to hope that Tong (or possibly Scott) is ready for MLB action this season.

The Padres are very active at the start of spring training as they have signed Nick Castellanos for league min. of $780,000 (since Phillies are paying him to go away). He is probably worth taking a flyer on as a DH and OF depth at that price, assuming his attitude is good. If not, they can cut him loose without it being a big deal.

Frequently discussed Twins pitcher Pablo López has a torn UCL. It's a head-shaker that the Twins would trade all their other short-term contracts, but hold on to a pitcher.

Rhys Hoskins signs with Cleveland despite Bryce Harper's best efforts to convince Philly mgmt to 'get the band back together'.

Hoskins' two seasons in Milwaukee were decidedly a cut below what he did with Philly prior to the ST injury which ended his

tenure in Philly and cost him the entire 2023 season [129 OPS+ in six season with PHI vs 100 in two years @ MIL]

He's righthanded, and the Guardians have lefties at 1B and DH, so the fit makes sense on a no-risk deal.
