Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2025 Author Posted November 19, 2025 McReynolds is the guy who spent the majority of his career with the Mets.Jose Valentin is also correct, joining his 2007 Met teammate Shawn Green on this list. Conine (also a 2007 Met) finished with 19.7 WAR and just missed the list -- as did his teammates Orlando Hernandez (23.1), Aaron Sele (20.1), and Sandy Alomar Jr. (13.7). A whole lotta careers ended with the 2007 Mets but Julio Franco was not one of them -- because he was released July 16 of that year and was picked up by Atlanta, playing another 15 games that year to end his career with the Braves. One name remains. Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2025 Author Posted November 19, 2025 That's our list. Adrian Gonzalez, opening day first baseman in 2018. Nice job everyone. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 There are a lot of Gallaragas — guys who show up to spring training at the end of their storied career, with a lottery ticket of a non-roster contract, looking to make perhaps one more lap around the track. They fill out their uniforms nicely and show off their massive guns in the Florida sun, but by the end of camp they have demonstrated they have no defensive maneuverability, and despite their jacked physiques, are only limber enough to swing the bat with any precision perhaps once a week. But occasionally these guys stick around to break camp — usually due to an injury, but occasionally, between training and PEDs, they briefly convince the team that the illusion is real. I knew there was a Gallaraga that belonged on the list still out there. There was, and Adrian Gonzalez was he.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 One player still here spent the majority of his career with the Mets. The other three had one, one, and two seasons in NY, respectively — all in the 21st century. I read this wrong and thought that the majority guy was also from the 21st century. Reading is important.
