Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 24, 2025 Author Posted October 24, 2025 Who was the Tom Seaver of the 1970's Oakland A's? The Tom Seaver of The Athletics was Vida Blue. Won the MVP in 1971 that Seaver should have gotten in 1969. Perennial All-Star, All-Star starter, Sports Illustrated cover model, a name that was spoken with a hushed understanding of unimpeachableness, and carried a really heavy innings workload. Catfish Hunter may be in the Hall of Fame, but his moppy hair, unkempt look, and cornpone nickname kind of spoke of a folk hero, while Vida and Tom were action heroes. Maybe even super spies. Plus, Hall of Fame or not, Vida probably had the better career. What is the Tom Seaver of Manhattan neighborhoods?
