Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 When the Mets bring up a highly rated prospect, there's always the potential that he'll be the last player to wear whatever uniform number is assigned to him. Given that, the number should be chosen with care.So what number should Brandon Sproat be assigned?I looked at the current numerical roster at Baseball Reference. The most suitable numbers that are unclaimed (and unretired) seem to be 40, and 45.I suggested 30 for McLean and 40 for Tong. I'll try again with 40 and suggest that number for Sproat.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 He's No. 40. May it last on him longer than it did on Blade Tidwell.
