And right now it involves (OF) Carson Benge and (P) Jonah Tong.

Those two Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be representing the NL in the ASG-week Futures Game in Atlanta (Sat July 12, MLBN and mlb.tv)

I'm hoping Tong will have AAA on his resume by the time that game is played.

Back a year or two after college, whilst walking about the city, we stumbled upon a protest outside ABC headquarters. We moved in closer to read the picket signs and darned if they didn't read "WE LIKE KAITY!!" Apparently more than a few people were upset enough over the firing of their favorite 11:00 news anchor that they were moved to get out there with signs.

This was back when there were six late-night news options in New York, but folks were brand loyal. We had not even known she had been cashiered!

It would great if that was all we had to protest about.

I used to be able to see the future.

But the new meds stopped it.

Why is it so quiet here today? You're scaring me....

Anticipation - waiting to see what a new month will bring. And I'd guess some of them are in transit to their Tuesday night get-together.

It's Canada Day! Maybe the last one...

Only two guys from each organization make the squads, usually somebody who has not played in the game before.

Carson Benge advancing his status does not make Jett Williams or Drew Gilbert irrelevant.

Jonah Tong, lest it go un-observed, pitched a perfect inning in this contest. Benge made an out in his only plate appearance.

Best names include Red Sox outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia and Brewers infield hopeful Jesús Made.

Jett Williams and Drew Gilbert are afterthoughts now?

We've been watching Gilbert for the better part of two seasons here in AAA. I haven't been overly impressed for the most part.

Darling lightly advocated Gilbert for a September call up, last season

Doesn't look like he progressed this season so far anyway

These guys strike me more as trade bait than future Mets fixtures

Benge and Tong are both having terrific seasons.

If you aren't hot for Drew Gilbert, please don't put it on them.

My context was lacking

I supported a Gilbert call up last season and have posted as such

He is healthy now

Would you have Drew Gilbert or Luis Robert?

Gilbert is already here so give him a shot

*underwhelming" is in the eyes of the beholder. I didn't mean to sound so down on him

More on Gilbert from Metsmerized.com:

Drew Gilbert homered twice, doubled, and drove in four runs to lead Triple-A Syracuse to an 8-2 victory Friday over Omaha. The 24-year-old center fielder’s big night came two days after he went 4-for-5 with a double. He’s raised his OPS 127 points since June 22.

He's hot, maybe because he has shaken off his injuries.
