Contemporary Baseball Era Committee revealed - Sandy Alderson included!

[Cowtipper]

Some great names here:

Sandy Alderson
Dusty Baker
Bruce Bochy
Joe Maddon
Lou Piniella
Brian Sabean
Ted Turner
Bill White

What are your thoughts?

I've included a poll. Who should be elected this year? Vote for as many as you like.

[Cowtipper]

I went with Baker, Bochy, Piniella and Sabean. I could see arguments for all of them. I want Maddon in the Hall, but not right now. Too soon, just doesn't feel right putting him in this soon. Same with Turner. Alderson might be the weakest candidate. Bill White has an awesome hybrid case.

[Johnny Lunchbucket]

Sandy, Dusty, Maddon. They are all qualified to some degree

Note that the 16 voters considering these candidates are permitted to vote for a maximum of 3 candidates each.

12 votes per candidate is needed for election.

I voted Ted Turner - his network let millions see baseball (ok, so it was the Braves) .

and Bill White because I had discussed the naming of the National League president with Commissioner Bart Giamatti who said they were looking for a minority candidates. I recommend another name, but it turned out to be Bill White. As a player, announcer and league president - he belongs in the Hall.

Later

[Benjamin Grimm]

I voted Sandy and Dusty. (Their names go well together too!) I'm going to need to be reminded who Brian Sabean is or was.
