Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Saturday at 10:36 PM Posted Saturday at 10:36 PM Game One: in Milwaukee, Sunday 10/11, 8:00 PM FOX -- Tarik Skubal vs Jacob Misioroski Brewers [103 - 59] won four of seven head-to-head during the season though Dodgers [100 - 62] were +2 in RS/RA
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM For a while there it looked like the late (4:25) football game on FOX wasn't going to end by 8 PM
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 01:01 AM Posted Monday at 01:01 AM 1-0 Dodgers in the third. Miz has allowed two walks Dodgers had hit into a bases loaded double play in the second
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 02:24 AM Posted Monday at 02:24 AM Why would they pull Skubal after 5? strange.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 03:12 AM Posted Monday at 03:12 AM 3 wins to go. Let’s go Brewers.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 03:41 AM Posted Monday at 03:41 AM I find it very counterintuitive to root for the Brewers. I’m thrilled they won. But watching I find myself wishing Misiorowski would get hit until I remind myself that the Dodgers are hitting.

CF and I are going to disagree about everything tonight clearly. As a Mets fan, why would I have anything against the Brewers? Is there something I’m forgetting? Out of the other 14 NL franchises, they’ve got to be at or near the top of the list of “easiest to root for.” No major rivalries with the Mets. No agonizing defeats. No bad playoff history (and in fact quite the opposite). Not a problematic fanbase. I can’t see the issue. MFS62 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 09:18 AM Author Posted Monday at 09:18 AM So it turned out the be the low-scoring game everyone thought it would be ... only with less than anticipated contributions from the two marquee starters. Skoooball & Mis (ex-spouses who also help fight crime together. Catch it this season on CBS): 9.1 combined innings, 3 ER, 10 hits, 5 BBs, 12 K Meanwhile the bullpens combined for 7-2/3 IP, 0 R, 3 H, and 6 BBs (2 intentional) side note: Are all ballplayers named Ashby required by law to have an alliterative first name or is it just a coincidence. OK, yeah, there was an Earl Ashby back in the '40s. But since then we've had Alan (catcher 1970's - '80s), Andy (pitcher, 1991 - '04), and, since 2021, Brewer hurler Aaron

No bad playoff history (and in fact quite the opposite). Not a problematic fanbase. I can’t see the issue. I feel like the Brewers always beat us. Especially in Milwaukee. I know we won in the 2024 WC, but it took a miracle HR to beat them. Plus the regular season games that nearly knocked us out the week before. I feel like they had done that before, because that weekend I remember thinking “not this again”. The 2025 series where they swept us. Marte thrown out at the plate. Manaea gives up that big lead. I hate that building.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 02:50 PM Posted Monday at 02:50 PM Oh duh. It was the first series of 2024. They swept us at home to start our losing streak.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 03:31 PM Posted Monday at 03:31 PM The Mets are 6-19 against the Brewers since the start of the 2023 season so you’re right to say it seems like they beat the Mets a lot. But I put those losses on the Mets more. Especially 2024 and those end-of-season games which were against a Brewers team that had long ago clinched their division and had very little (or nothing) to play for. Maybe it’s silly to think any other NL team is acceptable, but in any ranking of the most-dislikable NL teams, we have to start with PHI, ATL, and LAD (obviously). It’s a drop down to WAS, MIA, and STL, and then another drop down to SD, CHC, and maybe CIN if you want to still hold a grudge for Rose/Harrelson. After that… there’s maybe some reason to dislike the Giants too that isn’t immediately coming to mind. And then I see the Brewers falling into the lowest tier of “I don’t even think about you” along with Arizona, Colorado, and Pittsburgh.

They used to be four subway stops away from my house. Then they moved and took part of me with them. (But not half as much as that other team that moved) Anyhow, 1-1 after 1 inning in game 2. Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Monday at 10:32 PM Posted Monday at 10:32 PM Reasons to Dislike the Giants: That whole Pride Day debacle. The 2016 Wild Card game A trip to Allegorical Park in 2025 pretty much began the second half collapse (in my mind, anyhoots). Roger Craig, Giants manager (1985-1992), taught his pitchers to scuff. I kind of like 'em, though.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:07 PM Posted Monday at 11:07 PM Not much pitching in Game 2. Yamamoto out after 8 outs I don't dislike either of these teams I'm still a big Sandy Koufax fan and he is still with us MFS62 1

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:13 PM Posted Monday at 11:13 PM Brewers leave them loaded in the 5th. Frelick takes a called strike 3. hopefully they don’t regret that later.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:36 PM Posted Monday at 11:36 PM Big hit for Contreras. Brewers 9 outs to get.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:43 PM Posted Monday at 11:43 PM 6 outs. The Dodgers seem less dangerous with Ohtani struggling. Is he hurt? Crazy to see him so punchless.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:03 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 12:03 AM Pat Murphy is either playing his lefty & righty relievers perfectly, or he's pulling guys who are pitching well too early and it's going to come back and bite him But he's thru 8 now so who am I to complain.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:58 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:58 AM Brewers looking good. Need one of the next two.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 04:40 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:40 PM The last time I rooted for a baseball team from Milwaukee was in the 1958 World Series (I had also done it in 1957). I'll be rooting for them in this series, too. Later whippoorwill 1

Ohtani was IL'd much of September (played just 8 games in the month and was 6/30 w/5 singles) with "biceps inflammation". It was kind of passed off as if just a precaution so as to have him 'fresh' for the post-season, but that's still not something that would happen if he was completely healthy. And, of course, he hasn't pitched since July 3rd
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Chourio homers on first pitch against Snell. Smoltz still fellating Snell
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have no idea who some of these Brewers are. Robert gasser? They’re just making up people now.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Cleveland Milwaukee Tampa Bay, they just seem to have a way The Mets? not so much
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago You figure using the same three relievers every game is going to catch up to you.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 17 minutes ago Posted 17 minutes ago Nice work to keep them within 1. im totally fine with this being the Edwin Diaz blown save game.
