Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Yes, you read that right, they moved up the start time because of weather/to end this miserable season just a little faster. (Yes, we are all happy about the development of Benge, McLean, whomever. It was still an abysmal failure of a year).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Mets @ WAS is starting early, as is Orioles @ Yanx. And then there is Cubs vs Red Sox in Tampa, all moved up and/or out due to the storm ... and meaninglessness. All other games today (including Cubbies/Sawx) start at 3-ish PM EDT
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 And both games that were moved up in an attempt to avoid bad weather ... are being delayed by bad weather.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 If the Mets win today, they'll finish the year 75-87. The last time they finished 75-87, 2023, they were in the NLCS the next year. If they lose, they'll finish the year 74-88. The last time they finished 74-88 (2013), they were in the World Series two years later.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 It looks like this gets under way in a few minutes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Weird to see Mauricio in the lineup against a lefthander, but I'm guessing Herz isn't expected to go deep.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Hofstra's own Jen Pawol behind the plate. Only two players have made the bigs out of Hofstra, but one of them is Ken Singleton, so Jen's in good company.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Who's this girl behind the plate? Is she there to deliver cookies to the players? Where's the umpire?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 TWO RIGHTHANDED HOMERS IN A ROW FROM MAURICIO!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 A middle infielder with real raw power like Mauricio is worth a lot more than whatever Vientos is right now.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 #300 for Lindor! Woohoo!!!! He did it!
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Sean Manaea working down 6-4. (I'm just pre-empting the inevitable).
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 In 139 games and nearly 500 ABs, that's just the 15th double for Semien this season.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Bichette making a late argument to damage his walk year further.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Author Posted September 27 I personally like Sean Manaea and was hoping he could finish strong. Guess not. One wonders if he could have some reasonable trade value if the Mets were to eat $10M of the last year of his deal. A change of scenery might benefit everyone.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 GKR talking about this year's AL West and 1973's NL East, but they were really very different stories. The NL East that year was a collective 30 games under .500 that year, 20 of that belonging to the Phillies [Mets +3, StL even, PIT -2, MTL -4, CHC -7, PHI - 20] iow, it was mostly a division bunched towards the middle rather than a basket of deplorable.s. This year's ALW is a collective 81 games under .500 with no one above break even. At the moment it's HOU & TEX and one game under, then SEA at -9 followed by ATH at -33 and LAA at -37 Now part of the is the current set-up. A smaller pct of games within division can lead to wider dispersal. But in 1973 both Atlanta and San Diego had worse records than Philly iow, in '73 the NL East bet up each other to a greater degree than they did get their collective asses kicked by the West. This year's AL West simply suxx. Edgy MD 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 A 3-0 count against Soto with two outs as the tying run on second is something like the worst time to get picked off. Getting picked off third, in the ninth, at home — that would be worse, but this is pretty terrible.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 "It's a longer drive." Every once in a while, Keith just throws something that makes you laugh out loud out there.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 1 hour ago, Cowtipper said: Sean Manaea working down 6-4. (I'm just pre-empting the inevitable). Took longer than I thought, and Manaea's not pitching, but here we are.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Come on, Nats pen. You've got one more in ya'!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Apparently we're the only team that doesn't hit the Nats' bullpen.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Well, this is it. It's almost over. Forever.
