Gosh, my screen went dead with the ball headed toward the glove of a diving Lindor.

I thought he had it ... but it took two refreshes and about 40 seconds to confirm.

But y'see, that was a strategic move by Lindor. Now he gets to be the ghost runner in bottom 10th and in doing so automatically moves up 90 ft by being picked off. Brilliant!!

 

Of course there's that minor detail about the brewers getting to bat in their half-inning first ... but I'm looking for the positives here.

Morel with a routine grounder to third, should have been a force out at home, but Hamilton throws it away.  Mets win.

Maybe he knew the play was over before having to make a choice, but Lindor should have been sliding there.

Yan swan diving after Lindor's catch was pretty funny.

Looked like 3B was rushing the throw in an attempt to get a 5 - 2 -3 DP but that wasn't likely anyway and it cost them the game. Didn't have his feet set or a good grip on the ball from what I could see.

Oh, and don't look now, but the Mets are now within one game of fourth place in the division, as well as the ever-tasty seventh place in the race for the last Wild Card spot.

One might not expect that panic from the team with the best record, but Hamiton had subbed into the game and maybe was trying too hard there.

I have been thinking on and off the last 12 hours whether this can ever be a sound strategic move.

But obviously (or, at least, after a moment of thought), if it somehow gave you a better chance to be getting onto extra innings than to take your chances with two outs and a runner on first, you are better off attempting to steal second than throwing yourself away.
