Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 His breaking pitches had all sorts of action but he had no idea where to put them.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Walks Kill! Scott seemed to forget that he had a fastball. Pinterest puts out the fire after Montgomery's bomb fortunately hooked foul.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Weird bullpens here where the pinching rubbers are only a bout 15 inches from the back wall, so you can't really rear back when throwing.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 That sac bunt was the first time the White Sox have put the ball in play in ten batters. And yet they've had six baserunners in that time. All nine previous ABs ended in walks, an HBP, and Ks. And now it's 11 ABs with no ball leaving the infield ... but the Sox have two runs (and counting?)

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Much of the damage the Mets pitchers find themselves trying to limit is self inflicted by walks HBP, and now errors.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 "They are trying to lift and separate." Is Ronnie describing the White Sox lineup here or pushup bras? whippoorwill 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Six innings = 2:28 The Mets have played 27 games this year that ran 2:28 or shorter. So about 1/5 of their games so far this season were over by this point.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Brazoban on to face his old teammates.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Robert Jr. not very friendly to Brazoban. Hits a bomb to leftfield.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Ha ha, eat shit south side baseball fans. Robert tattooed that one

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Stocking up at the deadline on relievers having a good year failed for the Mets as buyers last year. Stocking up at the deadline on relievers having a good year seems to be failing for all the teams the Mets sold to this year. Fools' gold.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I have very little confidence in the Mets holding the ChiSox to two or fewer runs over these final three innings. iow, we still need more runs, maybe lots of them. ... although getting an actual leadoff batter out for a change is a nice start
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Austin Warren kind of prematurely celebrated a strikeout there also. I mean, he stayed close to the ground, but still.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 The last 1 - 2 - 3 half-inning here was the bottom of the 4th
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Trevor Richards has mined a lot of silver for a 33-year-old.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Motoring out of the box to get a double out of outfield flares is Jared Young's specialty.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Runner on 3rd no now one outs. We could use this run and I don't care that it blows a Kodai save chance.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 It's Luis Torrens's world and we're all just renting space in it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Three DH's tonight, and all three in the hit column.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 23 Posted August 23 That was Torrens's 35th career HR. Six of them (approx 17%) have come since August 4th.
